The Carolina Kostner Thread

She is in 1st place at the Cup of Saint Petersburg, which is closed to the public and press and we will never see clips or any existence of this competition in video form whatsoever. :cheer: but she won the short with a 72.87, and she did a 3F2T combination (so imagine the potential there people). :glamor: I can't wait to see her new programs!

So, what is her music???????

Thank you so much for that. She is exquisite.
Two things, though. The detail on the back of the dress looks like an "S". I thought maybe she was skating to Superman.
And, there was a moment where she did a move that had a free leg sort of hanging out there with a foot attached. Will I ever not hear Uncle Dick "She needs more stretch, and a pointed toe"?
 
I loved Lambiel skating to the original Brel rendition of Ne me quitte pas and Caro is one of the very very few skaters who could similarly do justice to that legendary piece of music, so I'm a tiny bit disappointed she's chosen a cover version instead. But it looks like it's going to be a fine program and I probably shouldn't nitpick.
 
Thanks for the video!! Not a fan of this program, I don't think it brings out the best in her and I was hoping for something more for the Olympic season. I would probably like it a lot more would she skate to the original Brel version but oh well ... in any case, I think she looks very polished for this early in the season and you can see she has worked hard on transitions, I don't think she has ever gone into her axel with such short preperation time, so kudos to her! I suppose she will be going for 3f3t later on in the season judging by the layout. Can't wait for the FP and hopefully there will be a clip too!

The link was posted on the Russian forum and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be posted somewhere else (as people say, the event was closed to the public , because Russian Fed didn't want skaters to show their programs before the test skates and as Caro isn't Russian I don't think that there will be a problem with posting her video :) )
 
Thank you so much for this link! I LOVE her skating so much! Stephanes version of this program may be my all time favourite skating program. But Caro skating to this piece of music is also so exquisite. I also prefer the original Brel-Song but maybe Caro wanted a female voice. So I´m ok with it :) I´m just happy that she´s still skating in competitions as she gives so much to this sport. I hope she´ll have a great season!
 
Agree with others on the music but her quality of movement is so beautiful. :swoon: She's one of the only ladies who skates with her soul. I'm not huge on the program but I'm sure it'll grow on me. I was worried at first that it was going to be a Je Suis Malade cover :scream: so it was a relief once I figured out what the music was. The fluidity and use of her arms is gorgeous.

What more she could do, really I don't know. Meanwhile... she won the gold medal.

I think Caro, Tania Cagnotto n Federica Pellegrini pretty much lost count of their own successes at this point.

well I was underwhelmed....so I'll take your words for you. Might have been better without the vocal. I enjoy Carolina generally but for me that just lacked brilliance.
