The Carolina Kostner Thread

Yes, this interview was so nice! You can see the warm relationship between Caro and Akiko :) Both shared their biggest success together. I think Caro is a skater many other skaters like very much. She´s such a nice person, you just HAVE to like her I think :-)

From what I understand, Carolina is one of the truly universally loved skaters amongst the competitors across many disciplines. Just a ray of sunshine.

Glad you start... (praising, counting and) smelling the Oly Medal too. :)

250 points, like I was said, are not that far, seems like. :)

Hi msadot ..... I understand your post this time usually your posts are cryptic. Good luck to Caro looking forward to seeing the changes she has made and to enjoy her beautiful skating.

The whole thing is just amazing to watch.

I agree. What she does at 30 (almost 31) is amazing. Shows how far you can go with proper jumping technique! She also seems totally aware of what to do when and how to not stress her body too much, something that only comes with time and experience. What an inspiration to the younger skaters and to all of us!

I can’t help but think of Gracie

OK. :) Like I said: glad people start... "smelling the Oly medal".

STILL... I would be curious to know her goal. :) I'll try to speak my mind. :) Clearly, she does not COMPETE for passion or love: like any COMPETITOR, she has an achievement in mind.

250 points, like it was said?
50 "major" medals?
The 2nd Oly medal, so she has medaled any competition twice?

Said by whom? The world record is 241.31, and that was Medvedeva when judges were throwing around marks like candy at the WTT.

50 "major" medals?
Unless you mean any and all international medals, 50 is out of reach. Assuming a skater medals at two GPs & GPF & Continental Championship & Worlds every year, and the Olympics every four years, it would still take the better part of a decade to reach that milestone - and no skater is that consistent for such a long period of time.

It doesn't matter why Carolina came back to competition. I'm happy she did, and hope that when she leaves skating she will be happy with all that she's achieved.

I believe Carolina has said that her goal is to push herself to skate the best that she can, and to bring her love of skating to the ice.

With those goals she is a perfect 10! IMO her skating is Gold Medal winning every time she takes the ice......jumps or no.

I love and aspect of this thread, and about Caro in general.

Some say: "she only skates for love of skating".
Some other "count the score up to the cent".

As for me, you know what I think.

Also... are we that far from the 50 "major" medals?

Oly: 2
World: 7
Euro: 11
Grand Prix Final: 5
Grand Prix: 14
Nationals: 10

49, stopping with Milano 2018.

Gold in Nagoya. So proud this medal machine competes for Italy.
Can... she compete with men, at this point? Like Linsey Vonn proposed?

Seems like Ms. Secondini n Mancini said it right: interview bit.ly/2yUU2JF.

Guess what? Seems like I was kinda right too: her goal is the Oly medal.

Again: her numbers (even though some people don't realize it) are impressive.

And... at this point.... like Linsey Vonn proposed: why not competing with men, after getting 50 medals and winning it all repeatedly?

I think Caro can be proud that in such a tough field she became fourth without her full content. Her program where free of big mistakes like splats atc and her skating is just sublime.

@msadot: I have my own idea who you really are and your jealousy is nothing we want to read about. Move on with your own live and let Caro live hers! Please!

A supporter, saying Caro competes for winning (just like any professional competitor), saying she'll reach 50 major medals, reading posts from ms Secondini and ms Mancini.

Also, again: very proud she, Tania Cagnotto and Federica Pellegrini compete for my Country.

What confuses me is what YOU (in general) "want from her".

"No, she only skates for love of skating"
"Well, if she adds this, that, these, those, she'll add 6,37 (example) points on her free and 4,28 on her short".
