Not that we've got so much to post anymore now that Tripleaxel96's account was suspended :fragile:

I've come up with a few oldies for you all though, just in case any of you are already over CoP even though the seasons only just started ;)

So, here's a disco diva in the John Nicks mould of skaters...

1979 Worlds - Carrie Rugh LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THPVhwnX-q4

1982 Worlds UKTV voids - watch these in HQ as the quality is terrific :)

Kati Witt LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUEte1kaxqY

Baess & Thierbach LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFnxYJgwsbE

And as Skate Canada starts today, here's how the mens LP looked 30 years ago. These clips have never been shared either on youtube or fsvids so you're getting to see themfor the first time ;)

1978 Skate Canada - Fumio Igarashi LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03En644TWwI

1978 Skate Canada - Charlie Tickner LP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzdfaO8KDAE

Enjoy :cheer:

I hope the tripleaxle can appeal and at least get some vids back up via their own technology. Maybe then the rest could be put back up under a new account? Might be worth a try.
I am not sure I like the idea of Youtube or anyone being able to figure out where you are located at area-wise so that certain things can be blocked. Too big brother for me!
I think CBC does this as it says I can't watch the online broadcasts from my area. How do they know what "area" I am in?

I've spoken with tripleaxel96 and he's not feeling like reposting all the vids. He did have much of his own practice footage posted and could at least do that again, but who knows. Like others, I am gutted that I can't stroll down memory lane any more through is massive archive of great stuff. :fragile:

I was just thinking that maybe if he appealed, I'd imagine that they could just reinstate most of the vids without him actually having to do it himself. Just hopeful for those who had this problem. Maybe it does or doesn't work that way.

Why was tripleaxel96's account shut down?? Was it something to do with posting vids without copyright or something? I always checked this account and it was the only youtube account i subscribed too :(

I'm not sure if he posts here, but I'll ask him if it's ok to post what happened. Not that it's a sekret big deal, but I'd like to at least extend him the courtesy of asking first.

Is there anyone who even comes close to tripleaxel96's repository of videos? I doubt it.

I discovered so many unknown-to-me and new favorite skaters in 3x96's youtube archive, but never took the time to thank him for collecting and posting.

Here's some more oldies I've uploaded from 1978 Skate Canada.

Fumio Igarashi SP - this is brilliant choreography for the time!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia78xsaefGs

Charlie Tickner SP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUaNUMzevrM

Back in the day Skate Canada didn't have a pairs competition, but they invited the then Junior World Champions to perform a special exhibition.

Underhill & Martini EX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP6qRyUO-9c

Regoeszcy & Sallay FD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-rnESPVgLM

Zoueva & Vitman FD - yes THAT Marina Zoueva;)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNzwNNOYY3A

Best to watch thm in HQ for maximum resolution.

Enjoy :D

I just went on and everyting Kwan has been deleted! Not that some of you will mind...but watch out I bet the rest will be gone soon too.

ETA: Just checked and I am now able to access them. Today at work I went through almost all of them and the error message that appears on top said that "Sorry, this video has been removed" . Freaking me out, I have a witness so I know I wasnt just making it up. LOL

Viacheslav Zagorodniuk - 1996 European Championships FS

He sort of has that "Senior Elements but Novice Skating Skills" thing going on, but I found the program entertaining. I liked that he had enough style in his jumps that when he popped the 3T it still looked tiddy. It is possible that he lacked field moves because he was molded by Galina Zmievskaya. Her skaters tend to have programs like that.

Viascheslav Zagorodniuk - 1994 World Championships FS

While not "perfect" because of a double-footed 3A, this program is actually rather appealing. It has a good mix of Viktor and Oksana is the construction that makes it look very balanced. I would have rather seen this at the 1994 Olympics than Viktor's "let me prove I really do deserve that medal" program.

I just went through on my new account (after my account was deleted 2 weeks ago) and put the few videos I have uploaded again on private. Youtube is starting to really suck, and it's too much a P.I.T.A. to upload them all over and over again.

Out of curiosity sake, is there a time limit on copyright? Like, these vids from the 1970s or even earlier, does the copyright still exist on them? (It seems so, but just wondering if someone knows the real answer)

Copyright goes on for decades and decades. I think for movies, and presumably TV footage, the official time span was 70 years, and it was recently increased by twenty(due to :skandal by Disney, since Mickey and his friends were supposed go out of copyright back in 2003 and they couldn't have that).
It's worth noting that recent rules have decided you can copy and pass around stuff that is not "mainstream," which probably translates to anything the corporations don't care about, or maybe just anything they're not trying to make :bribe: off of. Though what use they'd have for older videos I'm not sure.

Thanks to U.S. Figure Skating, many skating fans accounts have been shut down :(

What does US Figure Skating have to do with it? I know they can claim copyright on Icenetwork and ESPN and all that, but can they do that for networks outside the US? That wouldn't make sense.
