Well, my choices would’ve been conclave and the substance but oh well. OK I need figure skating how much longer until nationals…

My choice was Nikki Glaser....a lot of Jayhawks were watching her, a fellow Hawk, tonight and she sparkled.Well, my choices would’ve been conclave and the substance but oh well. OK I need figure skating how much longer until nationals…

Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy): "Emilia Perez"
LOL. Nobody here who has seen this movie seems to like it. Why do the critics love it?
What I’ve heard is that Emilia Pérez has been received far more outside the U.S. than it has here. And Golden Globes has more international voters than SAG, Critics Choice, and the Oscars.
Yes but he's been doing movie scores for years now. IIRC he won his first Oscar for The Social Network.
How many films in the comedy/musical category
I've actually always wondered about that. Does it have anything to do with happy endings when so many suffered and so few escaped a dreadful fate?
I think DDL may have won, though I don’t remember. I do remember how shocked Brody was when he won the Oscar. I don’t remember who won SAG that year. I am pretty sure it wasn’t him.WAIT. This is Adrien Brody’s first Golden Globe? He didn’t win for The Pianist?
Unless he wins SAG, Timothée isn’t winning the Oscar. GEESH, he’s been having one of the weirdest Oscar campaigns ever.
I think that’s likely the Oscar five.
That’s mostly everyone so far. Apparently, The Brutalist is epically good.
But that’s been my biggest beef with this awards season. A lot of people want to see these movies (The Brutalist, Nickel Boys, September 5, etc.) But the production companies (A24, Paramount) loves to do limited releases with these for some reason. Which is crazy considering how low budget these films are. The Brutalist was made with only $10M, for example.

Thank you. I couldn’t even remember who the other nominees were.Jack Nicholson won for "About Schmidt"
What is so great about Emilia Perez that it won so many awards? Is it even worth trying to find out?
I looked up RT. They gave it 76 - not too shabby. At your own risk
That looked very strange. Viola thanked them for her Cecil B DeMille award but I didn’t see it. I wondered if I had missed it while I was watching football? Later I discovered that they didn’t show it at all.So they did the Cecil B DeMille award and the Carol Burnett award on January 3? This will no longer be part of the telecast? I was wondering when Viola got up there I’m like wait did I miss something? No one came out and gave a speech about her…
Should I see these movies?
Anora - Knowing with this is about, I have no interest. So it’s up to you.
A different man - I’m interested myself after his win last night
Substance - probably one of my favorite films of the year, but this is absolutely not for everyone at all. It also has a meaning to it that I appreciate that some don’t
The last showgirl - for me an absolute yes! everyone here knows I love a transformation and you see both Pamela Anderson and also Jamie Lee Curtis transform themselves in ways You haven’t seen them before.
Should I see these movies?
Anora
A different man
Substance
The last showgirl
I wanted to see The Apprentice before the elections, but now I don’t.
Anora is a pretty good movie, but you may want to skip it if explicit scenes bother you. Because there’s a lot of them. I still find it amazing that it didn’t get hit with a NC-17 rating.
A Different Man is a black comedy film about a man dealing with his facial disfigurement. Stan is great in this (and in The Apprentice as well), but you may not like watching the topic.
I still haven’t seen The Substance, but it’s a body horror film. And apparently, the last scenes arein gore.
I plan on seeing The Last Showgirl next weekend - assuming I can get out of the snow.
