The 2024-25 Awards Season Thread

Not surprised at Reznor and Ross winning for their Challengers score. It got really popular through TikTok and social media when the movie came out. Even Tumblr got in on putting music from Challengers over tennis scenes from other movies.

Miley Cyrus's song "Beautiful That Way" was snubbed from the Oscars Best Original Song shortlist in 2024, despite being a frontrunner and Golden Globe nominee:

  • Expectations: Many awards forecasters expected "Beautiful That Way" to be nominated for an Oscar, especially after it was recognized at the Golden Globes.

  • Other nominees: Other songs that were nominated for Best Original Song included Diane Warren's "The Journey" and Elton John's "Never Too Late".

  • Songwriters: "Beautiful That Way" was written by Cyrus, Andrew Wyatt, and Lykke Li.

The most eye-brow raising snub in original song by the Academy goes to the Miley Cyrus end credits tune “Beautiful This Way” from Roadside Attractions’ Pamela Anderson comeback The Last Showgirl. The Cyrus, Lykke Li and Andrew Wyatt penned song is nominated at the Golden Globes. Note the Disney Channel alum Cyrus has yet to be nominated at the Oscars.

Like his movie, that speech was trying a bit too hard though. :slinkaway

Hey, now! Wicked: For Good still has to come out next November. And it HAS to be another 2.5+ hours, RIGHT??!! ?

But really, if this has to be an awards category, Deadpool & Wolverine probably should have won this.

I’ll admit it: I tried to watch Baby Reindeer on Netflix. The first two episodes were pretty good. But it then just………got too……weird.

Not surprised at Anna Sawai winning. I think Colin Farrell's win is the only major TV win that's different from the last Emmy's since the Globes puts all the Supporting categories together.

Loved Anna Sawai shouting out Kathy Bates that was sweet.
