Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

Lol- my wishes of Teams Past...
1994- Team Usova & Zhulin
1998- Team Bourne & Kraatz
2002- Team Bourne & Kraatz
2006- Team Dubreuil & Lauzon
2010+ well we know that one. ;)
Heh. Ok, to be fair: I liked N/K ok. I did love some of G/P's original dances. I have never been able to abide A/P, probably because I will never forgive them for the pretentious sludge of 'Liberta'. And D/W always seemed to me to be over the ice, not into it, though often charmingly so.

But still, not generally my bag.

Well I was calm but now I am not lol..will likely have to DVR again due to not being able to watch it live, can't handle the inevitable loss probably coming our way...just keep thinking how awful for them if they skate well & being last..knowing it's their final skate & then come off the ice & place 2nd..:wall:

The last straw will be the judging draw..I fear hearing the outcome of that later too..preparing for us to lose the Canadian judge & still be stuck with FRA/US..that too will be a bad blow imo..& will make it almost impossible for them to win.

Can't handle the judges who clearly cheat getting to remain on the FD panel & make the final decision..

It's a Latin SD... they all overperform to some extent? Not sure what she was expecting...
Well, T/D's 94 Rhumba is still widely considered the GOAT of Latin dances, so I suspect that. And I wouldn't really argue with her.

this is what I found: "Saw an interview with Jayne Torville this afternoon and she said V/M 'overperform' and distract from their skating in her opinion."

Is that necessarily negative though? Or is it a clever way to hide mistakes?

A/P Romeo and Juliet is amazing. I'm no fan of Liberta.

N/K are all perk. Not sure about the actual skating...or their programs... I mean, sexy crossovers?

Did P&C bytch about this very thing last year?

I personally just don't buy into P&C latin (they did state they think it's cliche, and I agree to a certain extent about a lot of programs, but then they skate to the horrible Ed Sheeran music?????), I feel it comes to V&M much more naturally. Some find it forced (Scott), not me.

I guess they use the same scent before skating at home so when they smell it in comps they feel more comfortable?

I don’t know who choreographed their FD I’m guessing Marie-France.

Anyone watching the FD practice? Tessa has a new dress.

saw a pic...I swear I've never seen anybody having as many costumes as Tessa LOL she just can't get enough
True lol. I really like this one though it’s like the original but with a lot more sparkles. Less intense than the TE dress.

Really? I had no idea. Usually you can distinguish clearly his choreography. Who did their FD?

It doesn’t look like his choreography. He apparently chose the music and has his name on it. I actually question how much of it he even did. I suspect it’s more for political reasons that he’s listed.

Coombes and Buckland’s SD looks much more Dean’s style.

I'm stressing out just reading some posts here. But I get it too. After the awesome SD performance, I want to celebrate that success. I'm just going to be positive about the fact that they're skating last. With such a dramatic/dynamic program, I'd like to think when skated perfectly (like they did at Nationals), it will leave a lasting impression for everyone and bring excitement in conclusion to the ice dance discipline. At this point, I can't worry (trying real hard though lol) about the scores anymore. I only ask to please let it be in the hearts and minds of the chosen judges to conduct themselves fairly.

Lol I don’t think they’re struggling with finances. I saw somewhere once that Tessa was worth $1 Million I don’t how accurate it was though.

I am a bundle of nervous right now and the competition hasn't started. Whether they win or not, they will go down as the greatest ice dance team of all time. I am praying for an Olympic Gold Medal for them though.

Well it didn’t get them anywhere in 2014 did it? So they had no choice but to go this way.

Also Jayne Torvill didn’t exactly light the world on fire with her skating. That team was more about Chris and the amazing, innovative choreography. Jayne always had a bit of a frumpy look to her.
