Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

I think the assumption many are making that P&C have it in the bag need to realize that ice is slippery and that they still have to skate at their first Olympics as well as V&M have to, so it isn't over until the competition is done, despite the technical panel, et al. I thoroughly enjoyed V&M's SD and look forward to seeing it again in the IE and I can't wait until the FD which is truly spectacular. They have lots of support here, let's enjoy loving their skating together.

Who is blaming Tessa and Scott? I am pretty I am the most vocal person wanting Weaver and Poje in the Team event.

Went on twitter and saw #icedancing and #SympathyfortheDevil trending. V&M are getting LOTS of compliments on their skating...Awesome to read.
https://twitter.com/popsugarfitness/status/962545752223440896 and from Jenna Dewan Tatum’s instagram story http://mysticseasons.tumblr.com/post/170750488132/jenna-dewan-tatums-instagram-story
I’m off to bed need to recharge for tomorrow lol.

ETA: ok I lied but real quick wanted to point out that their FD from nats is like going viral or something. This morning it was 300k now it almost at 800k views so cool. Ok I’m outta here for real.

A couple articles with quotes from Tessa and Scott:

Well, even Marie is baffled by the score.

I love how DR have to ignore Scott's screaming in order to keep their focus.

I just re-watched their SD on German television and I loved how the commentators raved about them. Talking about how you could watch them forever and what a gifted skater Scott is. Combined with the CBC commentator saying that Tessa is the best female ice dancer out there, they make quite a pair.

Thanks a lot, Shayii and Golden1, and others too, of course. Great to see the reaction of the general public despite the score.

Although I feel slightly pessimistic now. Those level calls here give the technical panel an excuse to "award" Tessa and Scott a level 3 or two (level 3s) also at the individual event, while safely giving all level 4s to P/C as they didn't skate in the team event, so no one can say that their levels would have also been low(ish) here.

Still, the performance itself was terrific, even though I've only had a chance to watch on my phone. Absolutely had to go to sleep last night as, unlike a lot of other people, I am working today. But I ended up not being able to sleep anyway and watching on my phone in bed :D. So I woke up really late and had no time to watch on computer. Have been busy at work until this moment, but will try to watch on my work computer now. Sorry for the rant (or whatever this is).

Not decided about the dress yet - have to see it on a bigger screen.

There is no way in hell that P&C's SD can score a new WR in the same competition as V&M with their SD..if they do then that will be the most obvious bs ever, & a total give away that the fix is in..
Well, P/C didn't get a WR at GPF with Tessa and Scott there, but they got a higher score than T/S, so I won't be surprised at a new WR for P/C at the individual event, although I truly want Tessa and Scott to get it.

Some comments from them in this article re the scores. They are keeping the faith. They looked happy tonight cheering their teammates.

Thanks, kittysk8ts. It's really good to know that they haven't given up and are staying positive about their chances.

I don't know about elsewhere, but there's been a bit of a shift in the commentary too. They've been doing the whole 'the two teams are equally as good, these placements can be put down to artistic preference' thing all season, but Robin Cousins flat out declared himself Team Canada for their skating quality during the SD.

Their PCS dropping does bother me. Levels are one thing, but components...the Spanish judge that was giving them 9.25 adored that short program at Skate Canada, and their interpretation of the music certainly hasn't got 0.75 worse since then. Oh well. I'm liking their performance the more I watch it. I think it perhaps started a little tentative, so it's good they could get that out of the way in the TE.

I don’t think that the technical panel can cheat as they have the video that they review. As for W/P skating if they didn’t then they wouldn’t be part of the team and a medal so I am good with that. I thought V/M were awesome!

I'm still unsure on them missing the Choctaw- it looked fine to me, but I didn't have the greatest angle. The last key point was fair enough and they need to sort that pronto because I've just gone back and watched P/C from the GPF and it's not an issue they have. The step sequence I can't figure out, but step sequences are always a bit dicey. The panel was strict but fair with everyone I felt. It needs to be consistent across the whole competition now.

PCS are a whole different ballgame.

The one score I really have a big issue with is B/S, but that's for a different thread.

For some reason that surprises me about Cousins but I guess he did love them in 2010.

I watched the NBC coverage and Tanith Belbin was raving about them too.

Listen, their SD was electric and riveting! The dress feels cleopatra to me for some reason. Still it’s nice though. I wish dance was sooner. I’m going to lose a lot of sleep over the next week

Are they that much lower though? I saw a lot of 10s on the sheet. I hope after the team event they work hard on that rhumba pattern. Not only did it only get a level 2 but a majority of the judges only gave it a 2 in GOE.

For Canadians on this thread who get cable, I wanted to mention that the NBC coverage has way better picture quality than CBC. I taped both and felt that V/Ms SD looked much better on the NBC coverage.

I wasn’t sure about the dress at first but it looked great on the NBC cameras! The cut is really Latin and it is really blingy. Tessa implied in her interview with Martini there might be another dress for the IE.

It was just that one Spanish judge that really stood out to me, because she gave them higher scores in all components just a few months ago. She loved that dance on first sight.

Can anyone give me the coverage from Eurosport for their skates..I love watching the other countries commentators talk about them & really want to see these..TY! I want to see Robin comment on them!

What was the issue with the last key point?

Is this the first time this season that V/M haven’t received a Level 4 for the midline?

I hope they can fix their pattern issues in a week for the IE. They have time and I'm sure they know what they need to do. I'm very nervous about their FD and how it's going to score now with this panel.
