Stéphane Lambiel opened his own skating school, The Skating School of Switzerland aka 3S, in Champéry in summer 2014. Since last summer he had an elite skater there, Deniss Vasiļjevs. And this summer a few more joined.

They have a so called "performance group" with six skaters:
Deniss

Diana Nikitina (LAT) - she started her first senior season and has high hopes on qualifying for the Games as Latvia has one spot in ladies too; so far she competed at Ondrej Nepela and Golden Bear

Koshiro Shimada (JPN) - he continues in juniors, took part in two junior Grand Prix events, still recovers from injury

Noah and Noémie Bodenstein (SUI) - brother and sister, single skaters, he is novice advanced, she has her first year in juniors, took part in two junior Grand Prix events; Stéphane works with them since 2012, they started with Peter Grütter

Céline Sonzogni (SUI) - Swiss national level skater, competed at Swiss Cup (Trophée Romand, Trois-Chêne):

I talked to Stéphane in Moscow and he told me some details about how his new students joined, etc:

Stéphane also had a long interview with Elena Vaytsekhovskaya:

As no one "volunteered" :) so far to translate it, I will try to do this in the coming days.

While in Verona for "Intimissimi on Ice" Stéphane also had a fan meeting where he talked about his students, his work with them, coaching, his own skating and more:

And we have one more interview (not mine) with him coming on AS soon, stay tuned. ;)

P.S. There was a "Skating School" thread here some time ago, but I couldn't find it...

A vlog from Maia and Alex Shibutani's Shibsibs Youtube page. Highlights the incredible natural scenery (Alex and Maia appear to use a drone to capture some of his video shots in his vlogs) in the area of Champery, what appears to be walking distance from Lambiel's home to the rink, entering and inside the rink, and proximity to the Olympic museum in Lausanne. What a gorgeous place to live and train.

During Euros in Moscow, on Sunday Stéphane had a traditional fan meeting with his Russian fans. He talked about Deniss and coaching, about his choreography plans, about ballet and a lot of other things. I really love his fan meetings, especially when he is in such a great mood like he was in Moscow. They are funny but also thought provoking and very deep at times. Hope you'll enjoy watching. :)

Thank you for posting, Reut! Stephane's fan meetings are so interesting and so much fun, especially when he feels at ease with the people there. I don't know how the translator keeps up with him when he gets going on a subject that interests him! I noticed that sometimes while she was translating, he nodded or smiled, once even said "Da", so I guess his Russian is getting better? Glad that he's happy coaching but miss his skating so much - he spoiled us with all the shows he used to do every year.

The translator is indeed very professional, it's also not her first time, she is already used to how he talks (and she also writes things down because he indeed forgets to stop and talks A LOT). How much he actually understands Russian remains mystery. He claims that not much, I think he understands more than we think. :D

Toronto Cricket Club's Ghislain Briand will be providing "jump camps" for Team Champery for the remainder of April.

His photo with Diana Nikitina from the camp they just finished in Champéry

Romana Kaiser (Liechtenstein), Luke Digby (UK), Alessandro Fabri (Italy) jouned the team for that camp.

Based on the recent article in Latvian press they now have 10 days vacation and then two more camps - in Latvia (Daugavpils) and then in Zurich.

And it looks like Luke Digby will be there too (a new student for the whole season?)

Maybe, hopefully, there might be video afterwards?

Yes, fans are planning to come. So hopefully there will be photos, videos, maybe a small meet&greet will take place too. But there certainly won't be any video with parts of programs/musics in it as they specifically asked fans not to record/share that info, want to keep it a secret at the moment.

To tell the truth I can't really understand Stéphane's decision considering that he told me at Rostelecom that he got many, many offers and requests from skaters. And out of all of them Luke was the best??

I'm sure Stephane would tell you that it's not about taking "the best" or the most talented students, it's about finding pupils would will work well with his style of coaching and fit in with the rest of the team. Good news that NISA seem to be more open to sending singles skaters to people other than Simon Briggs.

And among all those "many, many" skaters who wanted to work with him and those of them who can "work well with his style of coaching and fit", etc Luke Digby (43th at junior Worlds) is the best choice?
We had a long talk with Stéphane (most of it can be found in the link above), also about him balancing between his coaching and his own career of performer. Taking someone whom I can't even call promising (yes, yes, every youngster is promising and everything, but still) at cost of his own skating? I am quite upset to see this happening. Although, of course, I'm sure Luke is a nice and hardworking boy, great addition to the team and all that.

I don't think he needs to justify why he takes on any student. They can't all be superstars and maybe he is interested in developing the potential of these smaller fed skaters who otherwise wouldn't have a chance. I trust his judgment & I'm sure he knows how to balance everything - he's managed it so far, while still doing more show skating than most retired skaters.

While doing less shows that he did before, especially this last season (and I happen not to care about "most retired skaters" and the shows they do, while I do care about his shows and his fans getting an opportunity to see him on ice). And being absolutely drained towards the end of the season.

P.S. Never said he needs to justify anything to anyone (and he would laugh if anyone would ask him to :) )
Neither do I need to justify why I'm upset about him taking more of not elite, very-very not elite even, students at cost of his own shows. And yes, it always comes with the cost.

Good luck to Sweden's Matilda Algottson in her move to Champery (she had qualified the Pyeongchang Olympic berth at 2017 Nebelhorn, but based on the results at 2018 Europeans, Anita Ostlund was the skater that went to Korea).

(*corrected: thanks!).

A correction; Anita Östlund was the skater who went to Korea. Matilda's season last year started out strong but then went downhill. She didn't make the cut for the FS at Euros, while Anita placed 6th in the SP and got to skate in the final group. She dropped in the standings for the FS, but her potential was evident, and she was send to the Olympics.

But yes, totally agree, good luck at Nebelhorn Matilda! :cheer2:

Ghislain Briand will return to Champéry for two training modules in April and May!
https://www.instagram.com/p/BvjcbqsnMHM/

And especially for those concerned that Deniss doesn't get to work with the techincal coach enough (as there were way too many who voiced this during/after Euros and Worlds), they plan to post detailed reports to social media about which excersises he did, what exactly he accomplished, etc. (this part was, ofc, April Fool's joke :p)
