I could be wrong but I thought he said the entrance was bad and their rhythm together was bad, but not naming her specifically. It's really hard to hear though.

Thanks for the info, @Amy L!Ilia Averbukh choreographed it because he needed them to have multiple show programs for his tour last year. I don't know if it's about Denis specifically, but I doubt it's totally coincidental.
^^ Thanks!

That's a lovely, passionate exhibition, full of emotion (surely a tribute to Denis). Maybe they are more relaxed during exhibitions. Since this music seems to have some meaning for them, why not use it for a sp?
Same reason I am askingOk, what you say makes sense, since she was saying something about emotions I thought she said горесть (sorrow) but she said скорость (speed).

This will not be a popular opinion, but I think it is going to take T&M a very long time to become comfortable with their situation. I really believe we may not see them skate well till next season. I hope they will prove me wrong. In the meantime I will be happy just to watch them skate.
But look at last year when they slowly got better throughout the season.
It could happen this year, but I am keeping my expectations low right now. As soon as I expect them to win, they do the opposite.![]()
First things first, I think they need to go to Rostelecom Cup and skate as well as they can. They can still get to the GPF if they can beat Boikova/Kozlovskii, and I think the Russian fed will still prefer them for a little while because they're the only Russian pair that has the ability to win a world title this year (I love Boikova/Kozlovskii, but I don't think they have enough momentum to beat Sui/Han yet). If T/M can deliver at Rostelecom Cup, then they can go to the GPF and continue building the upward momentum. If they don't, then they won't qualify to the GPF and they'll have more time to regroup before Nationals.
TBH, I would like a different free program for them. I like the choreography, but the music feels a bit heavy and awkward for me. I would suggest maybe going back to last year's program "The Winter", which worked better with their skating style IMO. I think Charlie White's choreography is genius, but I wish they had chosen a different piece of music to go with it. Food for thought for next season.
Also, I want the black bodysuits back! They looked so fierce at test skates; I think that's exactly what they need, especially for an intense program like Bolero.

For both programs I prefer the black body suits. I don’t like the costumes they are using.
I had the same thought as you yesterday. They could go back to last year’s LP. It was beautiful and the familiarity with the program may give them confidence. They could use this year’s LP in a show.
If they don't make the GPF, historically, it would wound them at worlds if they make it there. If you go back to the very beginning of the GPF, when it was the Champions Series, no pairs team that was assigned and competed at two GP events and failed to make the GPF has ever gone on to medal at worlds in a non-Olympic year.
When T/M's music was announced and it seemed like the most likely version of it was the cover that C/L used for a gala in 2015, I immediately liked the music for them. It sounded very them to me without having to resort to classical warhorse. It's a good program for them, if they can ever skate it clean. Also, with all of the other problems they're having in competition this season, it's not going to help perception if they have dumped programs two years in a row to go back to an old one.
I am with you on the black bodysuits for the sp. The red things for SLC were terrible, and the blue costumes they had at SC are nice, but look like they go with a different program. Sometimes, simple and all black is the way to go (think V/M in Pink Floyd at Worlds in 2009). I also think they need new costumes for the long. I liked her dress initially, but am liking it less. My one other thought is that if Vladimir is going to have the long red mane, then Evgenia's hair does not need to be in a ballet bun or French braid with the end tucked under. I can see wanting at least part of it restrained so it doesn't get in her face while competing, but I wonder if half up/half down would work, or at least a ponytail. His hair moves; hers doesn't need to be completely restrained.
There is a new Russian interview with T/M. Google translate didn’t butcher it too badly when I read it.

That they’re having confidence issues is obvious. It’s plagued them both for a long time. I had hoped going to Marina would help, but things just seem worse. The trajectory they’re on right now just seems primed to add on. Losing russia number 1 status, no wins in a year, missing the GPF, not winning nationals probably.... I don’t know all the things factoring into this or what on earth is going to fix this.
Even if they do manage to put it together later in the season, the political damage has been done. In a non-Olympic year, no pairs team that had and competed in two GP events and failed to make the final has gone on to medal at worlds that season.
