Survivor v32 - Brains, Brawn, Beauty v2

Hard not to step in. We can't interact with other contestsnts. Ocean water is colder than core body temperature....they couldn't hear me...

So when we saw the other contestants interacting, they were breaking the rules?

And they couldn't hear him? Really?

Were they interacting? It seemed like the tribes were sticking with each other, but it's kind of hard to tell with some of these interchangeable contestants.

so have we hit all the injuries and gross things that were foretold in the S31 reunion? Or is it just going to get worse?

Debbie is on his tribe. He was not interacting with her.

Oh, I just read his tweet to mean the tribes couldn't interact with each other. Otherwise it's kind of an odd statement as the game is about interacting with each other. I don't know why Peter didn't help Debbie; maybe he was still a little bitter about the vote.

It's weird how people who have heat stroke, are physically exhausted, dehydrated and sun burnt don't feel like reaching out to help others... All that can really bring out a selfishness in a person.

:p

And yet, there some of them were, reaching out to help others.

But I didn't know Peter had heat stroke. Where was this mentioned?

I was wondering why nobody went over to the ocean to try to cool down. Perhaps they weren't allowed to go that far from the challenge site? I'm completely no-teknik when it comes to medical issues, would jumping in the water be too much of a shock to their system if they were suffering from severe heat stroke/exhaustion? Just wondering, as that would have been my first thought to do if someone needed to cool down quickly.

They've been getting some criticism for making things too easy, so maybe this was their response to that.
I kind of thought the same, that tasks and challenges are straight forward and repetitive, but making them more dangerous for contestants' health would not be my solution.
Do you know by chance if Survivor ever considered locations other than tropical islands? not Antarctica of course, but other climates and terrains?

Or something "un-PC" like ethnic groups against each other (Hispanics vs. Asians, etc.), or "immigrants vs. locally born", or "bosses vs. workers"?

For example, if the setting is one of the remote islands in Shetlands, and the theme is "bosses vs. laborers" the challenges can be "build a wall out of local stone", "cut lumber/build xxxx", "heard sheep with 3 shelties", "learn to distinguish maeshowe runes from standard celtic runes to find a clue", etc...

They're in Cambodia this season.

They like for the eye candy to be half-naked and they like the options of water and land challenges, so they like the hot locales on a beach, and the Asia-Pacific area is both easier for them legally (the laws are more lax) and better for the crew, because the crew is almost entirely made up of Aussies, who don't have to travel as much.

They've also done Australia, Africa, Nicaragua, Brazil, Thailand, China , Panama, Guatemala...probably some others I don't recall.

You mean like dividing tribes by race/ethnicity or by blue collar/white collar, etc.? That's all been done .

Are you new to the show?

Also, they have found that the Pacific islands have the most lax laws about almost everything, which makes it easier for them to do whatever they like on location, so Jeff has said they will probably stay in that general area from here on out.

But before they decided to stay in the Pacific, they did Australia, Africa, Nicaragua, Brazil, Thailand, China , Panama, Guatemala...probably some others I don't recall.

I can see how the local laws are important. The other regions listed are still sub-equatorial or "warm-weather".

About eye-candy, i don't know who sees them as "eye-candy"... after few days their "undies" look rather soiled, plus one can't help but wonder about lack of toilet paper, deodorant, female cycle during 38 days of stay... I personally rather not look at "bare bodies" knowing all that. Plus, if many think it is getting boring, given there are "eye-candies", maybe "eye-candy" is no longer important.

I just think there would be a whole wide range of new challenges and twists in a "different climate". Surely there are some "northern" banana republics with lax laws...
Maybe they should consider few deserted Kuril Islands, part of Sakhalin region, the laws are VERY lax, actually...... there are NO laws in general, and especially if one pays... :D

I am thinking that making certain adjustments to northern climate is nothing compared to law suites the show may be facing if they keep making show more interesting at the expense of safety.

I remember "blue/white collar" but it is not the same as "boss/laborer", blue/white collar can be both, bosses and laborers. The idea is to see how a group of "bosses" can handle tasks and camp organization, given all are used to giving commands; and how laborers handle the same given that at work they are used to receiving commands.

I must have forgot the Cook Island/ethnic grouping. I had to look it up to remember. Ok, fair enough. "Immigrants" vs. "Natives have not been done yet.. I'd love to see "many Tais and wetbacks stories" vs. "suburbia and big city sluggers".. :D

Anyway..... a girl can hope... :)

They aren't going to be sued. The contestants sign an enormous contract giving Survivor carte blanche as long as there is no out and out negligence. The contestants agree to accept the risks of the challenges, which are explicitly spelled out, among other things.

But their thinking on cold climates is that it would make the contestants hard to identify (all bundled up) and the contestants would spend a lot of time huddling in the shelter, which would have to be more enclosed, making filming harder to do and strategizing among the players much less likely.

And a lot of people like the eye candy, dirty or not.

Which I think was the dynamic they were going for in the blue collar/white collar/no collar season. I remember Jeff talking about that very thing.

Send Jeff a tweet. He's very responsive on Twitter.

I always thought a season with everyone over the age of 35, 40 or 45 would be cool.
None of those young uns calling a 40 year old 'Old'.

But not the demographic TPB want, I would guess.

I would like seasons which had casts with less diversity, actually. A season with only professional athletes. A season with only Mensa members. A season with only business owners. I think if you had seasons with people from similar and competitive backgrounds...things could get much more intense.

No, and I think there would be fewer conflicts, which they wouldn't like. But the plottin' and schemin' might be really good.

I think that would be interesting in terms of competition, but I think the producers would worry that most people would have a hard time finding someone to identify with.

I totally would want a season of no one under 35 - but based on previous casting we'd still get plenty of players who are, shall we say, young at heart in the vein that Survivor likes to showcase players.

I recall now you told me this before, few years ago, when i suggested locations in Greenland or N & S Poles... :D I guess it applies to "central climates" as well.

Ah... Sometimes i get inspired and want to send Jeff a long proposal and an offer to help with set up in remote parts of Russia. Then i remember it is a silly TV show and it is not becoming to participate in "bread and circus"... (also, i don't know how to tweet, and my antique mobile-phone does not dance, or sing, or cooks dinners).

How about a season with folks like Joe, Malcolm, Ozzie etc. It would be awesome.

Cook Islands was straight up my favorite season of Survivor ever. I've watched it multiple times; it was so good. I know people thought it was un-PC because they divided everyone up racially, but I thought it was interesting and led to some really interesting stories.

How about a season of American Ninja Warrior competitors. Can you imagine the challenges?
