Great job! They'll need to up the content for Worlds, but considering how long of a layoff they had this was remarkable! So very happy they won!

LOVE the moment in the lift where it all pauses and she pulls down something from the air. And even though I'm sure the sbs triple salchows will need to come back it was so good to see the best set of sbs double axels of all time make a reappearance - the distance she gets on that jump is truly surreal.

I will love Stolbova forever. So long as she never goes blond again. Fedor is awesome, too, but Ksenia has this FIERCENESS that just draws you in.

She and Savchenko NEED to do a duet for some show. A FIERCE duet.

I admire Stol/Klim's grit. They are not playing around with their new programs. Both sp and fp at RusNats I found very enjoyable, and their growth as a team coming through tough times is quite evident!

I would have had Stol/Klim edging Tar/Mor even in the sp. Tatiana Tarasova was very exuberant while commentating Stol/Klim's sp at RusNats. Can anyone translate into English TAT's effusive praise?

But good performance overall. The twist was decent, which I was very afraid it would suck big time, and I am happy with the score. They have good chance with the long if they skate clean. I don't understand the -2 point deduction though?

The polish is evident but the choreography to the music for the short confuses me. Also, I don't like the step sequence. Everything else is great.

Those SBS spins are best in class. The synchronization of the sir spins made time stand still.

When this time violation happened? I wasn't aware at all. :confused: Granted, I have my right ear half blocked because of this damn flu. But don't they have more or less some seconds which they can finish behind the music? I remember at the GPF last season they did finish behind. I mean plenty of skaters do that. Was it that big this time?

Really? The step seq. is the thing I like most in their SP, myself. But yeah, the sbs spin was top notch.

Well, people may not like the step sequence (not everyone, obviously - I like it, as do others), but they got the highest GOE out of everyone for it (not to mention level 4). So there is no need for changes, unfortunately for those who don't like it. And what seems so confusing about the choreography for you?

They are clearly taking a moder/non traditional approach to that music which i'm all for. I don't get it though. Plus, I don't think it's TO the music(steps). Their layout as far as elements go are the same every program... twist into throw into SBS jump. I had the same complaint about their steps to I put a spell on you. I don't really think they go to the music and I also dont think the opposing steps do them wonders. It's difficult as ever though and other than the steps, I like their skating.

Someone said they finished 2 seconds AFTER their music ended. Isn't that within the allowed time? As I said above, they did finish after the music ended, at the GPF last season also.

I don't really get it either. I saw they were rushing to finish but I didn't think it was so much they'd be docked for it. I guess it was.

Apparently they have maximised the time allowed for the SP, which is 2:50 maximum, while in the LP you are allowed a 10 seconds. So, I guess with the delay from the fall, they stop moving when it was already 2:52. Still, I am surprised they haven't taken these things into account.

I think you are confusing the music length and the time allowed. The time start running as soon as they start moving. It is completely irrelevant when the music stops and how long they skate after the music stopped; what is important is when they stop moving -that's when the time stops. So if the music stops running after two minutes and their skating exceeds the music even fourty seconds, it doesn't really matter. What matters is how long they have been moving. The length of time they have been moving must not exceed the time limit.

After the disastrous SP, it was really impressive indeed! Highest BV in the LP.
Hopefully this is all priming them to peak next season in Februaryish.
 
I really like this pair and I was sad for them after the SP but they were able to shake it off and skate a very good LP. They were third overall in the LP.

Moving forward, I am wondering what they will need to move up next season. They need some Big elements. Given Fedor's shoulder issue, I don't know if a quad twist should even enter their vocabulary, but they will need a big and clean triple twist. Many other pairs have a 'Wow' twist and it really gets the audience into the program. Skating clean may not be enough anymore though they have the best skating skills. I think they will need a quad throw to beat the current top two. With the quad throw there is a risk of injury, and given their history they can't afford another injury. All I want for them is to stay healthy next season and everything else may take care of itself.
 
As someone with a bad shoulder, it hurt to watch them, but I was very impressed with the way they came back in the LP. Given his shoulder history maybe it would make more sense to focus on their SBS jumps, spins, footwork and programs -- racking up all the points they can in the non-shouldery elements. Thankfully Ksrenia has gotten Claire de Lune out of her system and they can go back to being edgy and moody.

I don't know though--- their base value here was already 3 pts higher than S/M and 2 pts higher than S/H. I don't think they should work towards adding a quad anything. That triple toe-triple toe combo is spectacular enough already as the highlight element. I think they should focus instead entirely on cleaning up the elements they have now. They went 154.6 (!!) at the 2015 GPF when they skated clean. That still hasn't been touched by either of the top two.
