Stolbova and Klimov Thread

Only they and their coach must understand that strange decision. If they knew the future, I doubt that they would have withdrawn. Anyway, it's water under the bridge. If they have to WD from worlds this year, they will still have two years to reestablish themselves, plus they will be the reigning Olympic silver medallists in 2018. All this, assuming that Klimov's injury gets the right diagnosis and the right treatment. Their long term goals are still for 2018 and beyond, I am sure.

Ack. Doesn't sound good. I wonder if the alternates are also training and ready to sub if needed.

Yes, Dmitriev said that Ashtakova and Rogonov are ready in case if S/K won't be able to compete.

Glad to hear they are training. However, unless the RSF sends them to the USA along with the rest of the Russian team, they are going to be jet lagged and physically not 100% ready.

They held a press conference about it. Think they said they were more concerned about performing well at Europeans and Worlds. Sooooo looking forward to seeing their programs.

Do we know whether they have new programs? I have been expecting they would keep at least the LP.
Yes, they have two new programs, there also were some photos on Ksenia's Instagram with them working on choreography with Yuri Smekalov (ballet dancer and choreographer at Mariinsky theater in Saint-Petersburg)
Stolbova/Klimov:
SP: 'Clair De Lune', Debussy
FP: in modern style, not far from their last season's FP

Something caused by breaking in new skating boots. Was it her shins that got injured?

I am not really liking many of the pairs' steps sequences these days. They don't even do the same steps. Each partner is doing something completely different, lol.

Yes. And sometimes it looks like children at recess on a playground imitating things like rocks, trees or zoo animals. Still Ksenia is great.

That split twist looks worse though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A4qhM301kk Here is the short program. I love it until, low and behold, the eternal non-matching footwork sequence begins right after a music cut fakeout that made me think it was the end. Instead of "Oh wow, that was so quick and wonderful I barely saw it go by" I was left with "shit, that footwork took forever". Loved moments of it though - her arms are perfect - and considering the very long lay off that was VERY well done :respec:

I LOVED THE SP! And for a little practice time as they've had, I think they look very, very good. Can't wait to see them in peak form.
So happy to see them back...If they are alright to really work now they will be right in the mix for medals for worlds. She is always beautiful.
