Skate Canada hosted events + CBC live stream - who will commentate?

You mean when you had to move the rabbit ears as you changed the channel on the TV to see if you can get a signal?
? I think I was too young for that but def remember just being able to watch everything on cable for a cheap price (looking back at prices vs now).

Got it. It’s showing up for me now too. So happy I can watch on my TV without having to try to figure out a way to MacGyver a hookup for my laptop. (Very boring explanation - it’s not complicated technically, but my tv is located above the fireplace, where there is no room for a laptop and I don’t have any chairs or tables high enough to make the laptop easily accessible to the TV.) Anyway, I’m having a friend over to watch tomorrow, so another reason I am especially happy I can stream it on my TV.
If your TV isn't a smart TV where you can have apps like Youtube or CBC Gem downloaded (or connect to the internet), you can also purchase a USB device like a Chromecast which can send what's on your computer screen directly to your TV, or an Amazon Fire TV Stick, which is even smaller and allows you to download the apps of the different TV providers. My old non-smart TV came with a free Chromecast and I used it all the time before I got my smart TV (and still use it on occasion if I'm watching something directly off my computer)

I've been using an AppleTV from almost a decade ago and generally just cast from my phone to the TV. Almost none of the built in apps are supported anymore because the AppleTV is so old, but I haven't bothered to get a new one because the casting works just fine.

Have to say I loved Kaitlyn Weaver as commentator. She wasn't scared to share her opinion, seemed to be enjoying herself, and Ted really seemed to enjoy her.
I wish Kevin Reynolds had spoken more, as when he did have something to say, it was worthwhile. I had no idea he was a technical specialist. Also, he still looks 14. Though his hair looks better.
Meagan had a lot of good insight, but I don't think her voice is the best for commentary, though maybe she just has a sore throat?
Up next: Kaetlyn Osmond

I have to say, I've enjoyed hearing about their warm-up routines. Meagan saying how the competitors would speak beforehand to say what they were planning on doing in the warm-up so it would help with staying out of each other's way. Kaitlyn saying that they always did what they did in practice, and how you get to know everyone else's routine as the season progresses...

I’m enjoying the skaters’ commentary, it’s intelligent and empathetic and interesting. I have to say that Ted Barton’s constant, over the top, gushing compliments to Kaetlyn Osmond are a bit much … and she seems a bit uncomfortable with it, too. Shades of Rod Black’s obsession with Elvis Stojko.

I really liked Kaitlyn Weaver's commentary during the dance. I thought she was much better here than at Autumn Classic - maybe a combination of being more comfortable with the job, and also having someone else along to steer her towards talking about the more technical aspects?

I felt the same about Kevin, too. He was a lot more specific with his commentary today, instead of just a general "well, that was a nice job" at the end of every program.

I want to learn things from the commentary, so I liked what they put out there today.

Aside from being honest about her thoughts on the dances, what was great about Kaitlyn Weaver's commentary is that while she didn't yammer on, she also didn't need to be prompted to speak. And her rapport with Ted was natural - they seemed like a team, rather than her being just an expert to educate.
She also had better audio than some of the others.

I also agree that Ted's praising of Kaetlyn Osmond was way too over the top. And he seemed to push Elladj into praising her too. While yes, Kaetlyn was a fantastic skater, the praise heaped on her did seem awkward.

I wasn't too fond of Elladj or Patrick. I'm glad Patrick was just there mainly in the breaks, but Elladj didn't really seem to add much to the actual performance commentary, and could have been there for the breaks too.

I didn't know much about Ted Barton, other than that it's because of him the ISU streams a lot of events they didn't before. But per his Wikipedia he won Nebelhorn in 1975, competed at Worlds in 1976, developed an instant replay system implemented by the ISU and is the executive director of Skate Canada BC/Yukon! I'm glad CBC is making use of him.
