I suggest if you are preoccupied with mask compliance percentage rates, attendance at a sporting event held at a crowded downtrodden casino may not be in your best interest.

You are so right, Ms. Bottems. I’m not sure what people here were expecting to see at a casino. People smoke and drink while they gamble, and neither can be done with a mask. It’s also impossible to police mask compliance in an arena. I was pleasantly surprised at how many people in both the arena and casino were wearing masks - it was far better than any other big event I’ve attended this year. If you don’t want to be in a situation where people are guaranteed not to be wearing masks, going to a casino or sports event should be avoided.

I sympathize. However anyone who believed mask compliance would be 100% at Skate America and the Orleans, renowned as the stale-smoke capital of Las Vegas, was delusional and only fooling themselves. Making the decision to fly to and attend Skate America or any public venue carries some amount of risk, just as does driving on the interstate of flying a regional airline or walking alone at night in the inner city. You made the decision to take on that risk. Own it instead of complaining here ad nauseam.

-BB
Perhaps instead of complaining about me, you should own your choice of being on this board despite the inherent risk here that someone like me might annoy you.

People asked how mask compliance was at the event and other people who were there replied with what they saw. You guys can turn this into how we all had unrealistic expectations but no one said what their expectations were so I don't see how you can know that.
I even said I expected there to be maskless people. People wanted to know what it was like to get an idea for future events. It is good for people to know if they are thinking of going to Nationals that not only will there be maskless people but maskless people who are actively ill (coughing, box of Kleenex, constantly blowing, miserable and eventually sleeping). I guess some will call that b*tching but I’m still going to give my observations of what I saw and find it irresponsible of that imbecile.

I suggest that people who are immune-compromised and therefore preoccupied with mask compliance should not be required to just sit at home alone, and instead should have the right to attend events with the expectation that others there will follow simple rules which are clearly spelled out to all who are in attendance.
Who said the that people who are immune compromised are not allowed to attend an event?
That is just absurd. How are they going to enforce that? Give people a complete physical on the way in?
I am immune compromised.and let my just say you couldn't pay me enough to go into a place with a bunch.of people in a close area
BTW, there is no right to attend an event at least not over a concern of.the health of the others attending.

toddlj didn't say that. Re-read his/her comment. That being said, as a severely immunocompromised individual, I just made the decision to not go to Nationals. The concerns are attached to more than individuals not masking and not being vaccinated. the older the HVAC/ventilation system, the higher the likelihood of transmission. My oncologist also hypothesized that the constantly
evaporating ice surface which increases moisture in the arena and virus transmission. The highest transmission rates during sports events have been found at hockey games.

BTW, the CDC has not ruled out a 4th dose of the vaccine for immunocompromised individusls.

Thanks @sk9tingfan . I fully understand those who choose not to go. Hopefully things will improve someday soon to where folks can feel more comfortable attending events again.
I actually went to the Cranberry Open because it was in a new arena, everyone wore masks(except Eteri Tuberidze) and people were socially distanced. In addition, the CV rates were low(I felt very comfortable). None of these will be applicable in Nashville.

Hope you can get to the upcoming Nats qualifier, too.

Assumptions not fact:
1. People who are immune-compromised are preoccupied with mask compliance.
There is no proof about the preoccupied with mask-compliance.

Do you mean that they are worried about sitting next to sick people or do you mean fiddling with the mask? If one is immune-compromised, you shouldn't be out and about. (Unless you are invited to lunch with Moskvina, or lunch with the Queen.). And, of course, how would you know that someone is I-C is preoccupied with mask compliance?

2. No one is required to sit at home. Required?....I wish. Who is going to police that. We are relying on the good sence of people to keep themselves safe. Who is going to police that? The same "good sense" to act resonsibly. (And they don't) It is up to all of us to keep ourselves.

That is not a right. It is an expectation that people will be responsible. The expectation is about as valad and reliable as waiting for Pigs to Fly.

3. The right to attend events...
I do not find that right in the Constitution or Bill of Rights. Attending an event is not a right.

From the TV show "For the People" words have precise meanings.

I'm not sure why you've decided to react so viscerally to my post. I don't feel the need to defend myself further. Feel free to ignore me if I upset you so much! Have a nice day.

Nothing personal. I just think that people should not claim as facts, things that are not.
