Savchenko/Massot Fan Thread

Nastia could do that dismount really well, she even warmed it up at 2012 Trials cleanly. It was only awful at the end of her full routine because of endurance.

their twist is amazing! it used to be that gordeeva/grinkov held that standard for me, but now aliona and bruno are my new standard for the twist for me now. i just need them to get that quad twist down, which they should be able to get it down before the next season comes. i actually want to see them win worlds and the seoul games before aliona decides to retire or massot acquires an injury (heaven forbid, but then again, he's up there on age).

aliona has always had a flair for the comedic as well, not just the dramatic/edgy. just imagine if she were paired with trankov, though i actually like massot over trankov presentation wise. massot kinda reminds me of grinkov too, that softness.

That program is genius for showing how hard all those seemingly effortless elements are, and the work it takes for two different people to skate "as one."

My little dog was looking at me anxiously as I laughed and yelled Whoa at the computer at the switch from two hands to one hand in that last spinning lift. This team is on already the verge of greatness.

Damn. Can Aliona stay till 2022? I want this team longer than two more years.
agreed! i just hope both stay healthy to last that long, and that no political/personal issues get in the way. i see a lot of potential in this team. aliona is already a superstar in her own right, and just needs massot to step up to the plate

German ladies better get their sh*t together quick or else the fed should just send Aliona to do double duty at Euros. They have 2 ladies spots anyways :drama:

#ALIONA4WORLDDOMINATION

But seriously, she could probably win pewter in the ladies event at Euros :p

This needs to happen! :cheer2:

Question: How come this woman hasn`t skated to Carmen yet?

Olympic FP to Carmen? Yes/Yes? :cheer:

No, no. I want to only hear quirky, weird, interesting, different music from Aliona! She's always at her best skating to unusual things.
It's true, but I can't help agreeing that Aljona (there - I have succumbed to the j, following @Karpenko) would make a fabulous Carmen, and if you are familiar with the opera, you will see that Don José would be a perfect role for Bruno at this point in his artistic development. José is handsome but maybe not very bright -- no match for Carmen except by brute force. I can see them pulling that off. (I am not saying Bruno is not bright, but on the ice what is striking about him is his size and strength, not his subtlety.)

Aliona is fabulous and can skate to anything and make it work, yes, even Carmen. Bruno would look good dressed up as a matador, too. Aliona can be the first lady to skate to carmen in a bodysuit :cheer2:

As much as I love the opera, I just can't take it on the ice anymore. I want fresh 'music' blood all around in figure skating. There is so much wonderful music out there.

Me too, but I can't blame skaters or coaches for choosing warhorses when I see so many fans suggesting them in these threads.

Aljona would probably choose Carmen's sister before performing as Carmen IMO. I get the feeling that she deliberately stays away from the huge skating warhorses (besides The Nutcracker, but that isn't as overused as Carmen).

She did a Boleo program that was all flamenco style though, maybe Carmen as a polka?
