Maybe not thise exact words but I distinctly recall Tinami saying they've never liked her and that she's a snob.

I follow too many skating boards these days perhaps I'm mixing places up, but I know for sure there was a distinct difference in how Aliona was received by fans this season compared to last. Most people Tinami aside loved her, she was an angel, incomparable. This season round complaints about her programs were only eclipsed by complaints about her hair and costumes. She looked the same to me, lighter hair aside.

The only reason I can see for such an abrupt change in perception is her move away from Sambo 70. Which is honestly a boring story now.
Really Anonymoose. Your story is getting old. And it's a pity because I know you're such a wonderful skating fan. But here, and at Golden Skates, lately it seems you just want to provoke. Why oh why oh why?? I know you've said yourself that when you go into the Russian Ladies Thread you become a different person that you don't like. So why keep going into that crappy feeling? Provoking and arguing is NOT the way to go...and you know it.

I think she also said her goal was an Olympic medal of any colour, she wasn’t aiming for gold. That isn’t a direct quote and I could be slightly misremembering. I think it was from last season when she was winning almost everything.

Aleona fully recovered from *******. She is out and doing things, just not yet training.

8 days ago she went to Ballet "La Bayadere" and took a photo with a fan (who happened to be there)

6 days ago she came by the new Pluschenko's rink, with her new dog. She talked to people, but did not practice.
Later that day she took her dog for a walk, and her dog played with Sasha's poodle, who was also at the rink. (I can't find photos).

There is not indication that she lost interest. she just has not yet gained enough strength to train.
Tinami, here’s a question about a non-Russian Sambo-70 skater:
Do you know if Elizaveta Turzinbaeva (Kazakhstan) is back training seriously after last year’s injury? I’ve seen her postings of going to a university but that doesn’t mean that she’s quit serious skating.

Elizaveta is pretty good with her IG updates. She posted some skating videos, doing routines for fun, at a local rink in Kazakhstan, and then on a frozen lake (which i posted in Russian Ladies topic). I do remember reading earlier (in one of the IG posts) that she is aiming at Olympics 2022 if health permits.

Thanks for the update. So it’s “casual” at this point.

Maria Sotskova is getting a divorce after 6 months after the wedding. The reason given "too many personal differences, it's hard for two very creative people to find common ground (said her husband)." Maria's comments were "we met too early in life, wrong time, wrong place".

That’s fast.

Maybe Alena’s earlier thoughts of one Olympics and retirement have changed since leaving Eteri though? That seems to be the competitive career the Eteri skaters. She is young and maybe a change of coaching and this seasons setbacks will make her realize she can continue. I think she’s the most talented of the Russian girls overall and if she had a quad she’d be hard to beat. She’s already hard to beat when she has her triple Axel.

Aleona had mentioned more interests than going to University to study to become a Doctor. She is also interested in equestrian sports, and mentioned that she might be interested in competing. Her grand-mother has horses and Aleona does practice riding from time to time. In the summer she posted a video, and mentioned doing it on weekends. So maybe she is switching sports?

Maybes don't work.... :D. Aleona has the whole next season to get ready, if she wants to.

Sotskova has got to be one of the few skaters whose post-retirement antics are much more interesting than their careers.

Evgenia Medvedeva, with ‘a fire inside’ keeps skating for one main thing: ‘The fans’

“My back is getting so much better and I'm still getting into treatments and I'm healing every day with my own ups and downs. But it's going so much better.”
“Younger [Russian] skaters will make the future history of figure skating and... I'm happy to see that for my country,” she said. “We're doing great.”

She added: “I'm not that person who will discuss about, "who will be in the top?" and "who will not be in the top?" because I don't know. I really don't know. I just see how everybody's working. And all of them are hard workers. And I don't know what will happen with Kamila, or in the future or with Anna. ... But I just wish all the best for them and for sure, good luck.”
“After the Olympics, I was trying to prove to everybody something, but now I'm just looking back and I already proved everything. and I just I love figure skating and I like this feeling. I like to see the happy faces ... how the audience is reacting. And, you know, it's such a pleasure to hear people clapping and screaming for my performances.”

I don't know if we're trying to move on from the Kostornaia discussion, but I'll just add that my twitter is 90% people making edit of Kostornaia and talking about how beautiful her skating is and how much they miss her, so she certainly has not lost her fan base. Most critique comes from thinking she's extremely talented and wanting to see her fulfill her skating potential.

I really hope Medvedeva continues to recover, in general and enough to compete next season. I know she's not going to make the Olympic team or probably challenge for grand prix medals, but I just want to see her perform those two programs to the best of her ability, and get a proper send off at Nationals.

Wonderfully said by Zhenya. I have never been a super fan of her but I am sooo glad that she still loves skating. We need ladies like her, Tuktamysheva, Leonova etc to show the world that Russian Ladies is not only about 15 year olds.

I think she's the least likely to be there of Scherbakova, Trusova and Valieva. They all want it. Badly. And, one of them is not going to be in the team event and will miss out on that medal which might inspire them to repeat Sotnikova's "I'll get my own damn medal" skate.
It still upsets me that that happened to Adelina. I mean didn't she win Russian Nationals for the 4th time a couple months before the Olympics?
she should have had the SP in the team event that Russia knew they were going to win. She was originally on the team until she got bumped off the team. As it turned out she may not have won the individual gold medal for the first time for a Russian Lady if she had skated in the team event and gotten that gold medal. Adelina was flying in the individual competition skating very hungry. who knows if she had the team goals already she may have let up a little bit.

As for Yulia she sort of got burnt out from having to skates and then she escaped Sochi to go train separately and she was totally burnt out when she came back. The pandemonium that girl experience at 15 years old was too much for her.

I guarantee you Yulia would have wanted Adelina to skate the SP so she could stay more fresh for the individual competition.

I'm not sure people are calling aliona a brat. I say let her live her own life let her figure things out on her own and let us enjoy her beautiful skating whether she's at the very top of the Russian ladies or second tier. AK also is more emotional than Anna or Sasha or Alina. You almost never hear a peep out of them. Aliona will speak her mind.

I'm upset for her not at her because Alionas game has slipped this season and then she got C19. She needs to skate again competitively when the time is right when she's back to 100% Optimum Health. As for her wanting to be a neurosurgeon or wanting to retire after the Beijing Olympics it's all up in the air. Time will tell. This girl has lofty goals. That's a good thing.

She looks so mature/adult. It's hard to believe she's only 19. I hope she finds this next chapter in life fulfilling and successful.
Yes, looks like Polina is becoming quite a coach in the TeamTutberidze group, and raising some very promising skaters.

Her skater, Margarita Basyluk, on her first outing in the Moscow Cup event, received a score of 180.81 and a 5th place.

Stanislava Konstantinova is now coached by Victoria Butzaeva (Volchkova).

I know I sound paranoid but is there proof thats a recent video? Didn't Plushenko also post a video of him and Rozanov "reacting" to her triple axel when we know she definitely WASN'T training? Or is it from Aliona's account?

The account is "aleona's official", and local media picked it up and posted as news. i am sure they did some checking.

As to Pluschenko's last week's gimmick "reacting to her 3A", that's not how it actually went. The video showed Plusch and Rozanov standing at the sides, and Pluschenko yelled "Go Aleona, bend that knee". Well......... there was another Aleona practicing at that time (as fans immediately noticed) - Aleona Zhilina (Veronika's sister). Aleona Zhilina was just about to skate in the Moscow Cup for Younger Age Kids, and was practicing her programme (she came in 15th in SP and 10th over all after FS).

So by yelling "Aleona, bend knees" Pluschenko was not untrue, he was just deceiving...... :D
