Ru Paul's Drag Race - Spring 2017

I agree about Jaymes out lipsynching Kimora. Kimora annoys the heck out of me. Valentina was well deserved winner. Her look was so beautiful.

I did see Ep 3 last night but won't give anything away for those who haven't watched it. Except Kimora is even more annoying and we find out who can and cannot sew.

Does anyone else watch Raja and Raven's Ruviews on WOW on Youtube?

Yes it is a bit difficult to understand how any queen going on the show wouldn't know what they are in for.

There's really no excuse for that. Thinking you can win without at least basic sewing skills is just stupid. And speaking of stupid, Kimora has to be one of the dumbest queens ever to appear on the show.

It's Season 9. Why does any queen who comes on the show not know how to sew?
I think it was Bianca in a post show interview who opined that the ones who don't sew could have brought some muslins and just copied them. Bianca, who does sew well, practiced the one shoulder dress over and over and over so she'd be able to make one quickly should the need arise.

I think you guys are saying 3 different things.
I agree with Fred, once you get on why not have someone give you a crash course so you can at least work a sewing machine even if your seams are crap, at least it's not a glue gun.
I don't think they don't know sewing is required, I just think no one is going to say no to the exposure just because they can't sew.
And I doubt the pretty girls who can't act, do comedy or sew actually think they are going to win. Just being in a few episodes probably improves your career.

Well, maybe for the undiscriminating few. Personally, I would not waste my money on seeing a dumb, one-trick pony like Kimora.

You wonder how someone like that manages to survive.

Or even know what it meant.
She very obviously didn't know what it meant, even after Cynthia (whose first language is Spanish) explained it to her. And the the sad thing was, it didn't even embarrass her to be so ignorant. Because she's "pretty". Pretty is temporary, babe. Stupid lasts forever.

I saved Eps 1 and 2 and re-watched them before diving into #3. It helped a lot. I'm warming to Nina and Trinity. Valentina does seem to be the one to watch, though, and the saner queens are quick to acknowledge it.

Valentina was a very pretty boy until she made the silly decision to shave off 2/3's of her eyebrows.

Bianca is my favorite queen ever. Not only is she funny as hell, she's quick-witted and smart, all of which she is the Season 6 winner!

I am enjoying this season of the show.

Valentina is super polished and an early favorite.
Aja - she's a performer but she needs to work on her makeup.
I love Shea Coulee, Bonita Brown and Ferah Moon.

My favorite queen ever is Ms Alyssa Edwards. But I am a huge fan of Bianca, Raven, JuJu Bee, Katya and Trixie Mattel.

I like Violet Chachki too because her aesthetics is the best ever of any constestant. Her look from last year's season finale was everything.

Totally agree with you. Particularly Katya just totally won me over in the All Stars season with her humour and characters. And I loved this.

Kim Chi was also one of my favourites.

I totally missed Katya in Manchester on sunday :wuzrobbed: I didn't even realise she was over here until Monday. I loved her!

I was glad to see Kimora go this week she was getting really irritating. I love Charlie Hides youtube videos and I loved his show in person too so i'm a bit disappointed that she's sort of fading into the background in amongst the rest of the queens in this season.

Also what the hell is with the really harsh contrasting contour lines most of them have this season? I seem to recall Michelle dragging queens over the coals for poorly blended countour lines and yet the majority of the queens seem to have sharp practically lined contours.

I loved Katya's Hello Kitty's friend along with Ginger Minj's cow friend. And there was also Katya's Tara Reid from Sharknado runway look.

Charlie was a huge disappointment. I kept waiting for some wit, some old soul wisdom, but all I got was flat. Perhaps Ru "encouraged" her to come on the show even though she, Charlie, wasn't that into it.

Coming on the show when you don't do lip-synching is even more baffling than not being able to sew.
I know right. Plus she was in the bottom for a comedy skit character challenge, which is what she's famous for. It's sad when talented queens just bottle it. I fear Nina is heading for self destruction too, or at least she's getting that edit.
Maybe the broken rib story is true, or maybe she just imploded. But even finalists like Kim chi and Bianca eventually had to lip sinc, as it's always been the final challenge.
I think the whole live aspect threw her off. Even things like the tear away not being smooth. Filming YouTube, she could always just redo and retake until she got it right.
I had wondered why someone so famous had gone on the show, but I gather from the interview with Michelle that Charlie is looking for a career change, although I'm not sure exactly what.

I just read the interview. It seems she didn't have any intention of competing and was just another warm body. How else could you explain not doing the research and not acclimating to TV production time. I'm doubly disappointed.

I can't remember where I read it, but Charlie allegedly cracked a rib during the cheerleader challenge and was on pain-killers, which (if true) could account for her being so flat in the episode and barely moving during the lip-sync.

I blame the shoes why she didn't move from the spot. But seriously you need to do it for the show.

Well, I make no claim that the article I read is accurate. But I do think that after eight seasons, contestants who really want to win should know that they need to be well-rounded. If they're just "competing" to get extra exposure, I have no use for them.

 They're ALL just "competing" to get extra exposure.

The longer you stay and better you finish, the more exposure you get. He repeatedly said he was going for top 4.

I think Charlie just choked. His words didn't match his actions and it was obvious that he couldn't adapt to the live format as easily as he'd hoped, which is ironic as being too set in ways and not easily adaptable is a stereotype of older people. By the time she came to lip sync, she'd just given up. Everything else is spin. IMHO.

What was interesting is that in real time none of the queens clocked any of it. It was obvious to the viewer she was getting "the edit" but right up until the elimination they all seemed clueless that Charlie was even in the bottom 2. Even her own teammates didn't talk about how shockingly poor she did in the challenge, nor did the producers dwell on the obvious "famous comedy sketch queen bombs the comedy sketch challenge" angle, instead spending most of untucked throwing the team leader under the bus and playing up the " one day you're the winner and then the very next challenge your Lip syncing for your life" angle.
