Gerry, you probably know this already, but if you are a hospital patient, especially in the ICU, it's very difficult to know what time it is, which is disorienting in itself. A watch by Lee's bedside will help with this, get a cheap one if you are worried about theft.
Apologies in advance if I am preaching to the choir.
And sending hugs and prayers to both of you.
:)

Thank you @Gerry for the updates. I've been dealing with a personal tragedy since Dec 23rd and haven't been on here since then. In my own time of deep sadness it is wonderful to come on here and read that Lee is making some nice progress in her recovery. I will keep sending prayers for Lee, you & the rest of your family that you see continued improvement on this long road of recovery.

I'm sorry to hear you too are experiencing tough times. Just stick with it, believe that you can handle this. Nobody ever gets over it, but we do get through it.

Sending you love and hugs. Through all this, I still have some to share.

Keep the faith.

@Gerry. Thank you for the love and hugs! It means a lot when I know what you're going through. Sending the same back to you & Lee. I couldn't be happier for all of you that Lee is fighting hard to regain what we all take for granted. God bless you all!! Keep on fighting Lee, you've so much more life to live!!

Gerry, I don't know you or Lee, so take this for whatever you think it is worth. I am not a music therapist, just a professional musician. Can you make a playlist of music that is special to Lee? Maybe from certain skating programs that mean a lot? Of course I can't guarantee it will help, but I believe on some level it could bring comfort. Prayers for you both!

You mean like, play the Dutch Waltz 92 times in a row, like being at a CFSA Novice Test day? :-)

Seriously, I already did that... grabbed her ipod from home and am playing her playlists as well as other music we know she likes. Thanks for the suggestion!

I had what I called a "watch dog". I kept a stuffed dog in the bed with a watch around his neck. It was easier for me to move the dog to look at it instead of the watch, which was just too small to grasp well (especially since I was grabbing most things with my toes, as my issue my hands weren't always working...) It was also easier to track where it went when I got a little fuzzy, since the dog was bigger.

@Gerry Based on my limited experience, it might be necessary to balance progress on things she's already doing well with things that are frustrating her the most. For us, sports provided the necessary processing/communicating practice, but it was much harder to get DH to practice the motor skills that had diminished. In addition to the skating music, you might want to include a couple of her Zumba sets to see what happens.

I continue to think of Lee and keep sending positive thoughts. I hope you've had a good few days! I also send all the best to Gerry & the rest of the family. I hope you're all taking good care of yourselves. I don't have medical advice to offer but my heart is there with you all!! Stay strong through the ups and downs. Life sure is a roller coaster!
