Practice Thread

This is a weird summer for me because for the first time in a long time, I have some actual time off! So I can skate! But two of the three rinks in our area are being rebuilt, so there aren't as many public skate sessions as usual :(

I hardly skated at all during the fall and winter because of the timing of the one adult session a week at my club. Tonight was my second session of summer school, and while the first half-hour was pretty dire, I got my groove on in the second half-hour. Which was kind of important because I was at least twice, if not three times, as old as the next oldest skater on the session  I had to represent the adults well! But it's nice to be back on the ice.

You go girl! :cheer2:

This year has been a complete bust for me skating wise - the knee injury I had in March got better only to give way to an ankle injury (that I can't explain at all) since the end of May but i'm booked in to see a physio on Monday about it. In the meantime I've cancelled my lessons with my coach for the next few weeks to see what the physio says.

I've never taken a proper break from skating - even when I've had injuries and problems I've gone and tried to do what I could avoiding any problem areas but this ankle pain is made so much worse in my skating boot that I can't even go and skate around so i'm thinking of just taking the summer off and going back when i'm back off holiday in September.

My club's summer schedule changes from week to week, and some people being confused about the session time plus some people getting stuck in traffic after work....meant that I had 45 minutes' ice time to myself yesterday.

The ice was pretty chewed up from learn-to-skate, and it was a little soft from the heat outside. I did figures even though I couldn't see my tracings, which was probably a good thing  Then I did some stroking and jumps and spirals. It was really fun.
