Made it to practice this morning. For those wondering about temperature, I am always cold and I am comfortable

The outside temp helps. But hopefully with bigger crowds for the ladies and pairs final on the weekend that will also help with keeping it comfortable.

I'm glad it isn't as chilly as Nationals 20 years ago. That seems to be almost the sole thing many people remember about that year.

Kerry Muzzey's The Architect is the FD music the Mrazeks had to scrap midway through last season due to copyright issues.

Yes, Muzzey does not want ANYONE using his music without paying him - that's why the stream has to be muted on Peacock/YouTube, etc. for Bonillo's FS.

Watched Alysa’s runthrough of her Gaga program. Costume is way better than what we saw in the fall. I agreed with Jean Luc and Polina that she looks shy doing the program and really needs to up the sass. It’s how I felt about the Donna Summer program when she started the season last year. Hoping for more performance in the Free tomorrow evening.

Watched Alysa’s runthrough of her Gaga program. Costume is way better than what we saw in the fall. I agreed with Jean Luc and Polina that she looks shy doing the program and really needs to up the sass. It’s how I felt about the Donna Summer program when she started the season last year. Hoping for more performance in the Free tomorrow evening.

I can't tell yet about this program. I'm sure she'll skate it bigger and fresher in a full house.

Watching Shibs RD practice. It is kind of disco maybe ... but slow and very boring. And under-trained. I don't get it.

I wonder if their sponsors wanted something more conventional than the video-game dance they had before.

First time seeing the Shibs new RD. The original program was a lot better than this and it’s not 90s

Blame this one on the judges and officials. The Shibs were told to change it. Such a mistake - the other one was fine, and they needed to change the Free.

Hmmmm I said back in September this will do well and can only be performed one way…. like a mother monster, she needs to let go any inhibitions or shyness, which I did not think that she really had and just go full diva out there…. by going full diva and exaggerating and selling the movements is what’s going to make the program work in my opinion. Anything less than that for me is going to stand out that it’s not up to par because we all have seen a Gaga video and a gaga performance. So if you choose this music, you gotta be at least on Kevin Aymoz level.

This is what happens when you are basically doing an all new program at this time of the season. She's at a disadvantage since all of the other skaters have been performing their programs for months now. Why did it take this long to get this program out there?

This is what happens when you are basically doing an all new program at this time of the season. She's at a disadvantage since all of the other skaters have been performing their programs for months now. Why did it take this long to get this program out there?

Jackie Wong discussed this on his Rocker Podcast from Tuesday night. He had a brief interview with Massimo after the first day of practices. There were issues with music rights and getting the right edit, so it took longer to come together than they anticipated.

The question for JLB is: "When you are watching ice dance, how do you see the whole picture, versus choosing when to look at feet, and when to look at the upper body?"

JLB should replace Shawn Rettstatt. His ideas on how to fix ice dance competitions are marvelous. More waltz, more compulsory dance pattern, more frames.

Polina and Jean Luc, both said in the women’s practice yesterday that Alysa looks shy doing Lady Gaga which exactly what I said back in September and what I said a day or two ago. I think anybody doing gaga not just Alysa if you’re going to do this you can’t be shy which I’m thinking why is she shy? She doesn’t seem like a shy personality. But if you’re going to do a gaga song you have to go full lunatic otherwise it’s only gonna look half baked. In the practice, she did not sell the movement of the choreography. Shes looked like she was shy since September. It will be interesting to see how the competition goes.

In that run through yesterday, Alysa for sure wasn’t giving anything 100% and was marking most of it, so I think we need to wait and see what it looks like when it’s actually performed. However I would agree with her looking shy while performing it. Whether that is because she wasn’t doing full out is a question, but that is exactly how she looked when the first iteration was performed at Lombardia. I’d also say she never gave MacArthur Park the energy it needed most of the time. But that never has hurt her scores, so…

I think she really excels in the more introspective, quiet pieces, but I think clearly the personality is in there. It just needs to be pushed up 5 notches to really perform something like Gaga and pull it off. We shall see tonight.

I’d been wondering who will take over as the athlete rep on the IDTC (and kind of assuming it would be Evan Bates - he seems to love a committee) but Jean-Luc could be a good choice.
