This isn't true :) You don't forget Cinquanta needed to defend the result of Vancouver because letters, petitions flooded the ISU, the protesters wanted to change the result. If I right remember in 2011 Milan one of Plushy's shows Mr Cinquanta went to Plushy's dressing room and they discussed the controversial things. About Vancouver ;)
He gave the special permission to Plushy in 2012. Plushy had no minimum technical scores because he was injured in fall of 2011.

You are right! But after the short program, perhaps Plush was a threat to the script ..against the plan... I read Vaitsekhovskaya's theory. ;)
And the IJS was born because of Cinquanta. Probably he read Mr Imman's letter, etc. I think that was just politics of him.

After and before Vancouver happened some interesting things. Those were also politics.

Dick Button himself was ashamed of trashing Plushenko before the Olympics, but he had no choice, it was his patriotic duty. And some other American commentators did same things. If we watch some old videos to see what were saying the same commentators about Plushenko some years ago.....:shuffle:

I think, he must to retire right now. True, I never supported his come back. He is a talented people, he can do whatever he wants. He can skate in shows, he can do other great and original shows like Snow King. But he can be a coach in Russia or in everyhere in the world. He had offers from Japan and more serious from China.

This doesn't sound good at all. May be it is time to retire. Plushenko has given so much to the sport and to his country that I hope he will be able to accept the reality and enjoy life with his family and friends. He could still be involved in skating if he wants to, but not compete.
 
He needs to retire. His body couldn't handle more then a couple skates at the Olympics. I'm sure he thinks he can get another Gold medal in the team event because winning a individual Gold medal is long gone since 2010 but i don't think he can even handle the team event now.
 
As much as I selfishly would love to see him pull off yet another comeback, I think this may finally be the time to walk away while he still can. I love and respect Plushenko as a competitor more than any other figure skater. He's more than just a Legend. He transcends the sport. He's larger than life and his unbelievable comebacks in 2010 and 2014 are nothing short of incredible. He's done it all, and won it all. He's achieved more than any other modern figure skater could ever dream of. It's a shame things turned out how they did in the individual competition at Sochi but anyone that questions his heart and will to compete is completely clueless. And he owes those people nothing. I hope he takes his time and makes the choice that is right for him.
 
I agree with people here, he needs to retire. He's done it all. He'll always be a legend in Russian Figure skating and in the world. He's one of the greats. I remember groaning about him returning in 2014 (I'm not a hater, but I just was over him for a bit after 2010). I watched him in the Team Event in Sochi and I respected him all over again. His body clearly can't take it anymore, and if he keeps returning the Russisan Men will never get a chance to develop. He can still be involved in skating but it's time to leave the competition ice behind him. Personally, I'd like to see him become a coach.

He did'n compete in too many competitions. The Russian men had time to develop theirself.... but I don't see that developing.

I really like him, but this just might be too much. As it seems, the hadrest thing for him is to stop. Not to give up, that's something else. But to accept, that he won't be less if he stops competeing. I'm pretty sure that all of us would love him as a "retired" skater, just as well as now.
He would still be the one and only Evgeni Plushenko.
He has to face himself, and that is the hardest thing.

ITA about what you've said. He loves to compete but physically he can't take it. When your body starts to betray you, it's time to retire. I remember Alexei Yagudin wanting to stay on but his hip problems forced him out of competition, and Michelle Kwan having to pull out of Torino after a year of injuries. Great to see all the love he's getting. He'll always be a legend. He doesn't owe us anything.

I was really sad because of Yagudin's retirement. I don't say Yagudin has no hip problems, but he was lucky he can retire with it didn't need any other explanation. I would like to see their rivalry after 2002. Yagudin fans always forget when they had the rivalry Plushenko was just a kid. And he could beat Yagudin not once. Plushenko was only 19 in SLC. I'm sure Plushenko's nerves and technical advantages would have ensured the victories.

Friends, considering the large amount of information, with some controversial news in today's media, I want to assure you that I continue to train. This season I'm really forced to miss. I have a health problem. Doctors recommend surgery, but if I decide to do it, it will not be until March, because the recovery after is the very long, while I have planned a lot of exhibition performances. So tomorrow, as usual, I training with Mishin, put the programs with Smekalov and Posokhov, practice them. In the near future I'm ready to show a new "short" and the new "free" programs to leadership of Skating Federation! My focus is not another championship, them was already a lot in my career, my focus is selection for the Olympic Games. I will not force preparations and even more, i dont want another serious surgical intervention. With doctor Ilya Pekarski we will try injections and other methods of treatment. There is minimal hope to go without operation. I have a difficult path, sport path. I am 32 years old, 4 Olympics behind me, yes, there are problems with my spine, but I have the desire to train, compete. 2 months ago, at a shows in Japan, I did the most complex set of elements. I understand that I can fight. So if I'm missing this season - it does not mean that I will not do anything. Work is proceeding, let not so fast, like me and everyone else wants, but I never stopped and did not intend to. If do not help any treatment, in March, after all the shows, I was forced to go on my 3rd spinal surgery. For now my family and I'm not ready for this decision. Conclusion: I'm getting ready for the long time. My main purpose is to participate in the Olympics, so I need to restore to 100% health, shape, skate new programs with new jumps. I will not compete in 2015-2016 season because health did not allow me to prepare new quadruples, are aware of it and I don’t have to prove to anyone what I can and what I can’t do. Nobody believed in me at the Olympics in 2010, that after a long break I could skate at the same level. The same thing in 2014.
When someone said: "Plushenko don’t give chance to the young skaters", I answer: I do not bother anyone, young people grow, but they must to show more skills. If they won 8, 9th places... whose fault is it? They have all the cards in hand. You should to prove yourself, be the best, be the number one, two, three. They can not blame anyone, than self. And now is very hard to russian skaters to compete with top world skaters, such as Hanyu, Patrick Chan, Fernandez....
I have no problem with the federation or ISU. I would just like to thank my fans and journalists who really understand figure skating.
