Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He spoke about the cultural richness of St. Petersburg and ice skaters’ love for football.

"Guests of St. Petersburg need to visit all the attractions of the city,” Plushenko told Welcome2018.com. “The city is rich in beautiful architecture, lots of museums, with indescribable energy and aura. The athlete has admitted that, because of the tight schedule he will not be able to attend the World Cup matches. "In 2018 we have the Winter Olympics and a big cycle immediately after,” Plushenko said. “So, I do not know where I’ll find myself in the summer of 2018. I hope to be able to visit the World Cup matches, but I can’t say for sure," he added.

Olympic champion said that football is very popular in the world of figure skating. "Skaters are very fond of football; many are quite good at it. I think a lot of skaters will attend the World Cup," he said.

Plushenko is sure that the Russian team will not be able to perform badly at the home Championship. "Our players are now playing much better. In general, the Russian football is blooming. Not only is our national team not bad at football, but also clubs in the European Cup. I think out national team in 2018 will appear in the new line-up. Hello! My name is Sara and I am italian. I live in Rome and, as you may imagine, I am surrounded by art in all its form of expression. I see myself as an art addicted, I literally adore artists, no matter if they are painters or dancers: when I see passion in someone's performance, I feel good and blessed. Photography allows me to share how I feel about it. I started 8 years ago by shooting my hero, Olympic Champion Evgeni Plushenko and now I want to share with you the neverseen pics of him during this time. I shooted many moments with a basic camera, not a pro one. And I loved it.
I am raising funds because I want this photography passion to become a real job. Unfortunately in my country is not easy to work in art, people are used to think that making pictures is like an hobby, so you don't deserve any reward for it. I think differently and I really want to improve my skills and my equipment so I can start rockin this wonderful world. My goal is to spread my vision of people I admire to the world.
I really need contributions to buy my new equipment and to publish my book, it would be amazing for me, since finding a job you love is something very difficult nowadays. But life is all about finding our way, isn't it? Your help could free myself and make it possible to pursue my dream.

The stars of 2010 Europeans returned to Tallinn for „Kings on Ice” http://bit.ly/1R6dzJk

On the evening of October 18th, one could notice a long line in front of the freshly built Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Estonia; that impressive was the line that the event had to be delayed for 20 entire minutes… That was the night Evgeni Plushenko and his „Kings on Ice” show highlighted the capital of Estonia; and for a small Northern country like this one, „Kings on Ice” was a massive show, comparable only to the European Figure Skating Championships that took place here in January 2010.
And, as if we were to draw a symbolic circle between then and now, in 2010 Evgeni Plushenko won in Tallinn his 6th out of 7 European crowns, whilst the silver and the bronze were claimed by Stéphane Lambiel and Brian Joubert – and, five years later, all three medalists came back to Tallinn, for „Kings on Ice”. Tomáš Verner and Kiira Korpi were too among the contestants of 2010 Europeans – and returned to Estonia this year, as part of the cast. And, to the joy and enthusiasm of the audience, almost every participant in the show performed not one, but two exhibition routines.

The host of the show, Russia’s Evgeni Plushenko, closed both parts of the gala. He first introduced his new short program to Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana: a powerful, famous piece of music which, combined to his unique skating style, made fans go absolutely nuts.

In the end, the skater whose titles took a couple of minutes to announce decided to get nostalgic and recall the music of his first Olympic triumph. Evgeni Plushenko skated to “Tosca Fantasy”, accompanied by his friend and composer Edvin Marton and his one-of-a-kind Stradivarius violin. At 32, the Russian legend didn’t loose his charisma – or his fans. He actually seemed to be on top of his game in Tallinn, successfully executing a series of triple Axels during the show.

My copy of the book 'Return of the Firebird' arrived last night. I plan on reading it this weekend, but I flipped through the pages. The pictures are not good quality but the content may still be interesting. As someone mentioned earlier, it's probably a self published book. Sometimes it helps to go to a real publisher to get good print quality. The cover looks good.

Standing in line at PO, reading Return of the Firebird. My blood pressure is rising due to the poor quality of the writing, spelling and grammatical errors. To see this in print makes me very upset. At best this is like a college paper. Don't waste your money on this book. I am going to send it back to Amazon and ask for a refund. I read barely 10 pages and I had enough.

Gordeeva's book talks about the Soviet system eloquently. I am going to read it again.

It helps to get a professional publisher and editor.

All his career long, Plushenko has performed in every corner of the world, bringing his art and passion for this sport to huge crowds of people in awe. His jumps and step sequences cannot be easily forgotten!
After 2014 Winter Olympics he retired from competitions, but he is still touring the globe, attending to countless ice galas and shows.
His love for Italy is not a secret, and many times he chose Italian songs or pieces of opera for his programs, often arranged and played by violinist Edvin Marton (among them, Tosca and Concierto de Aranjuez).
After a season out of ice, Evgeni Plushenko has recently come back to the rink, starting to tour again on shows.

December 19th, 2015 he was in Turin, performing at the Golden Skate Awards, an annual ice skating show that takes place at the end of Italian figure skating national championships.
Among his exhibitions, the whole audience was stunned when Evgeni started to perform on “Grande Amore”, Il Volo’s song, in the Eurovision version! “Special performance for Italian public” as he wrote on his Instagram profile! He had previously skated on the same song in Cluji, Romania, on December 18th, 2015 but on a smaller rink and with easier jumps.
Love and passion can be felt while watching his jumps and steps, with excellent interpretation, as always!

We would love to see him skating on Grande Amore all winter long, taking this amazing song to all figure skating lovers, especially in Japan, Korea and other Asian countries, that love this sport so much!
