Somewhat (actually a lot) OT: Edvin Marton is going to perform here in the Phoenix metro area next February. The announcement even mentioned Plushenko and the Olympics. I am very excited. I hope to get the tickets. I am actually surprised that he is performing here; Arizona is not exactly California or the east coast where you see a lot more skating fans.

Oh wow! I'm in Phoenix and I didn't know about that. How cool! Where is he playing?

It's at the Mesa center for the arts, on Oct. 2nd, 2014 (I was wrong about the date) at 7:30pm. So technically it's not Phoenix, but it's in the east valley/Phoenix metro area.

Tickets will be open to public on June 15th.

Plushenko will start full training after medical examination - Mishin

Two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko will start full training after a complete physical examination, said to the agency "R-Sport" skater's coach Alexei Mishin.

Plushenko performed last week at a show in Japan, it was the first public appearance of 31-year-old 2006 Olympic champion and winner of the 2014 Olympics in the team tournament, after another operation on his back, which he suffered in March. Mishin's Group is currently undergoing a training camp in Italy.

"Zhenya is now in Japan. He has not yet passed a full medical check-up - said Mishin in a telephone conversation. - As soon as he gets permission to doctors, he will immediately begin training. If not in this Camp, then in the next."

Mishin also commented the performance of the Olympic champion in the Japanese show. "Perhaps such a comparison may seem immodest, but when Maya Plisetskaya performed in "Carmen Suite", it was ingeniously. When skate Plushenko - also is clear, that he is great master. I agree. I wish he would just take it slow. I'm sure he does feel pressure to quickly return to the ice because it is probably his main source of income, but I fear what returning so soon might do to him. I hope he will listen to his doctors and remain healthy.

I really don't think money is a big motivator for him. He's a huge star who could simply do more tv and endorsements if that was the case. He enjoys the risk and adrenalin rush of skating and competing - he will engage in other activities to try to get that same "high," but skating has always been his #1 love. I went to figure skating. Once again saw what a great guy this your Evgeni Plushenko. He could play on my team, because the team fighter. I'm surprised, but at the same time not. I think the 3axel was his best jump, perfect technique which is probably why he's able to get it back so quickly. Still, I worry about him. It just seems like too much, too fast.
