He's delusional. His old worn out body couldn't even take competing twice in a week so he bailed out and Kotvun who could have taken part in the individual event got hosed. Just like Plushenko didn't compete at Euro's either after Russian Nationals because he knew he didn't have anything left to compete.

I really agree with this. That's why I never worry about his health. It's a decision that should be made by him, his coach, and medical team. If they feel that it can be done I don't second guess them.

I think he's saying others were jealous that he was going to go back to the Olympics and then have his own tour immediately thereafter, which would compete with other shows, but the other skaters' plans were realized (ie, their tours were successful) when he got injured and had to postpone his tour.

I could be completely wrong though, because I don't speak Russian and I'm simply trying to interpret the English translation that was posted above. I do remember that Averbukh had Kovtun on his tour and was hyping him a bit, so I'm guessing that's the reference, but I don't really know. I thought Averbukh had supported Plushy prior to Sochi though.

Almost every Russian FS functionaries supported Plushy before Sochi. Even Tarasova after Plushy's testskate said Plushy will be the good choice, Averbukh too. But they are working against Plu in the backround.
Averbukh has a great ice show in Russia today is the only one. Plushy wanted to make his own ice show and tour after Sochi. His wife is working in the showbusiness Plushy has many friends among the greatest Russian popstars, who promised they will sing there. For example the Russian "Justin Timberlake" would sing there
