What do you think about their choice of doing Hip Hop for the Olympics?
I am torn between wanting them to have fun and expand their repertoire and the fact that I didn't like Fame as much as other people did. Sure, it was fun but I actually liked their RD from 2017-8 (the Blues that everyone hated ...). I was especially fond of the second half, the swing section!
I liked the Swing part of that RD a lot - I never quite had the feeling Guillaume was completely comfortable with it, but Gabi really sold it. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the hip hop RD. Imagine if they talked to Elladj Balde about choreography!

I liked the original version with the cream costume better. It was very quirky which Gabby pulled off. But it had too much blues and a bit of swing on the end. :)

Well, if they choose swing in the end, I won't complain. I loved the 2/2 of the 2017 SD. As they're more mature now, I'd love to see them dancing to swing again and just enjoy themselves out there as much as possible. However, at this point, I'm excited to see them dancing to anything, even polka. :D

Another collaboration with Christopher Dean would be amazing too, the two dances he (co)choreographed for them were superb.

I agree ... the swing part was much more interesting than the Blues and Gabi does quirky really well! :D

the book is out today....
interviews .... in french

Thank you @synian for all these great posts !
I really like the way Guillaume chooses to turn a deeply painful experience into something that may help others through this type of ordeal. A definitively positive message: no resentfulness, which is amazing.
On a different topic: I love his voice (and there is a little accent Québecois in there ):)

By SAMUEL LAROCHELLE (May 1, 2021):
Machine translated excerpts:
At 8, he was approached to dance as a couple with Gabriella Papadakis. Instinctively, he refused. “I didn't understand why I was being offered this, because I would have preferred to dance with boys. Finally, a year later, I realized that ice dancing does not exist without a partner. I tried with Gabriella, we hit it off and I quickly saw our potential."
...
At the same time, he spent several hours a day with Gabriella Papadakis, a partner and friend that we discover in the book as an example of openness and compassion.
He also quickly felt that the Quebec metropolis was very inclusive. “The fact of meeting so many open-minded people, it helps to love each other in all its colors. In Quebec, there are several leaders who want to change things, while there are few in France on LGBTQ + issues. That's kind of what I'm trying to do with my book. I hope to open the conversation."
He can already boast of having influenced his discipline, while several athletes have confided to him that he had "liberated" the man in ice dance. “This point does not have a big relation with femininity, but more with the fact that in our sport, traditionally, the man is a little at the service of the woman to enhance her. I always hated it. If I can dance with my partner, it's really nice, but I don't want to play a puppet."
Claiming to be very stubborn on this subject, he took several choreographic liberties which inspired his opponents. “I don't take up more space than Gabriella. We both speak. We highlight each other. In reality, I can be so much more than the strong man who carries the woman."

A new you tube interview of guillaume about his book from afp ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaybCi6oW9s
@Peepsquick : quebec accent is very present !!! (it is nice) for french people !!!....

And yes I read his book, and I thought a lot about education, how to be open, how to not restrain anybody even if you don't feel it, just because you are not able to imagine how other people can feel anything ... the aim of this book according to guillaume is just to educate people to be open and take responsabilities to think that you don't know or imagine what people are feeling when you react to them ... just be open or nice might help ....And it could be so important at any age to anybody ... it is so important to know that you matter.

I'm very fond of Guillaume's voice and personality. Definitively some delicious québécois accent in there.
A treat! Thank you@synian! :cheer2:

and a youtube version of the part from the M6 TV on April 29th with his parents https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syIP2CMecqc
not sure if it will be accessible for everyone (may be with a vpn)
Thank you again @synian for sharing all these videos with us.It was accessible for me without VPN (USA).
I empathize also with his parents: it is hard to realize you didn't notice your child going through that kind of ordeal. Guillaume is right. What needs to change is society and its bigoted mentality that make many of us reject what is "different".
Escaflowne9282:
On a superficial note, I have to admit that the platinum blonde hair isnt a look I am fond of . It clashes with his beard and eyebrows. ....
I am not a fan either!
On a different note: did you understand like me that the commentator said Guillaume had moved to Québec for good?

I personally dislike polka. But would take anything from Dean!
