Ok so cello music it is. I absolutely love cello to the point where I nearly regretted later on to have chosen piano instead of cello. In the end, I just adore both. Anyways, those guys, Break of Reality, are really interesting. They have a modern sound and work with a drummer which had a nice rhythmic texture to their quatuor. I'm just putting this composition I found dynamic enough to avoid the melancholic tune which could be associated with cello: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piA72j6fdec
They have many more pieces which can be listened to on YT here.

Gorgeous and keeps you on your toes with the changes in rhythms! That would be very challenging to skate on but the possibilities!!!

There's Yo Yo Ma's versions of Ennio Morricone scores. If skaters pick one that hasn't been done a million times, it could make for a beautiful program.

I really want someone (most likely a male skater) to do The Funeral (used for American Sniper) (not a Yo-yo Ma version though)

Yo-yo Ma also did a tango album (sorry if someone has already mentioned this). That seems an essential listen for anyone thinking of next season's short dance music.

I also remember he did a collaboration with Torvill and Dean, where he recorded the music as they danced in the recording studio; and also this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF4Ft9x3whE; so, y know, he might also be up for doing another collaboration, if G and G want cello.

Woho ! https://twitter.com/Prefet63/status/984001191960031233

Gaby and Guillaume receiving the "Ordre National du mérite" = French National Order of Merit.

This is like one single grade lower than the Legion of Honour (the ultimate French recognition) without counting the grades of this order itself of course. This is huge !

Actually every French medalist receives a distinction. The gold medalists receive the "Legion d'Honneur" or an upper grade as Martin Fourcade i.e. And Silver and Bronze ones receive this "Ordre National du mérite".

It would have been great if a ceremony was hosted by the Government as they did for (every...) Summer OG medalists. But let's see they can surprise us ^^

Yes, it's Friday at 4 p.m and they have the Gala at 8 p.m, 800km from the Elysee... not possible !

is there any flight from paris ok to be able to do this. Vanessa and Morgan are invited too to the ceremony ... according to morgan instagram's stories
With an escort from the National guards with screaming sirenes to the airport, maybe or a little excuse note from Candeloro to escape the gala, though I doubt the public would be happy. They could still make to the end of the gala and perform their numbers back to back. Plus Candeloro could then introduce them as the newly decorated Champions. See they should ask us the fans, we're so creative.

There is a flight leaving at 6:55pm (Orly) and arriving at 8:10pm in Montpellier.
The National guards must escort them to Orly, the plane has to leave on time (and of course no strike), the police must escort them back to the rink and they will dress in the car. Candeloro will be waiting for them with their skates at the entrance to the ice rink:cheer2:
It's impossible :)

When I think of old school, I think of Klimova & Ponomarenko and Usova & Zhulin of which P&C do remind me. Lovely skate glide, beautiful lines.

I am cool with comparing P&C to them.

Just no Bestemianova & Bukin please... :shuffle:

P&C don't remind me of K/P at all. I don't know many of K/P's programs, but their 'Air' is one of my favorite FDs of all time. They literally disappeared into the music, IMO. I found/find that program to be entirely enchanting.

I haven't seen P/C disappear into the music in that way. Not even, V/M really - although they did come close with Valse Triste, IMO a program that was 'pure dance' before V/M became household names and public darlings. In their character programs, they of course can't disappear into the music.

I see Didier was able to make it to the event on Friday. So nice for him to have this honor. I bet the skaters felt like it just like being there themselves.

BTW, I know some of you re-watch Gabi and Guillaume's performances as often as I do and I suggest you download any performances you want to keep. The account of one of the most prolific and popular Youtube uploaders was just terminated the other day. I'm surprised this happened now that we're into the off season and there are about ten people paying attention to skating, and I'm not optimistic that anyone will take the risk of uploading the Olympic performances if they're still being monitored. Anyway, just a heads up, 4K Downloader is your friend.

For some reason there still isn't a really high quality version of Worlds FD on youtube Well, there is one, but there are jaggies in it

There were a few uploaded but they were blocked within a day. I managed to grab them but it's a shame they're not accessible. How does anyone even get exposed to skating these days if not for YouTube?

I totally rely on YT and live streaming. Of course, I can't always be behind my screen live. I hope this will calm down the Olympics being finished but the very few videos after Worlds worry me. @muffinplus the FD with the Brit Euro comments is of much better quality if you download it and watch it with Media Player Classic ( I like the video quality with this software, better than VLC). I'm waiting for the NBC commentaries but that might take a while. Fortunately, the great meejung hwang is putting up all those great videos including full versions otherwise I don't know how we could rewatch anything. I particularly enjoy full versions because one of my favorite bit is to watch the warm-ups with the commentaries. The way couples warm up is very revealing on their partnership imo. They also skate in direct comparison with the others, so one can compare the speed and body language better.

I flew home to Limoges just to catch la Tournée (well, i saw my family too ;)) and it was great.
a couple of my pics here - I'll write a bit more in the News à la française thread later in the week.

Had not attented la Tournée in a long time, and was pleasantly surprised!

Gabriella and Guillaume were (obv!) great and she just couldn't stop laughing - it was great to see them so relaxed after such a long and exhausting season!

Coming in late into the discussion on next year's music, but I've been binge listening to Abel Korzeniowski's soundtracks for weeks and I can totally imagine Gabby and Guillaume skating to his music. Just an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxO1csWNKmg

I'm normally not a fan of storytelling programmes (based on a movie, a book, a story) à la Baby Italians but Gabby is such an emotive skater and I would love for them to play with it once, out of curiosity. Though something tells me it's really not their cup of tea.

I am totally with you there Synian: I think they were great in the 2013 SD and being quick is really not an issue.
I do hope that we get to see them using their speed to good effect next season. Especially in the FD because I'm not sure that the Tango calls for great speed. It's more about quick changes in rhythms. Anyway, it should be exciting!

They already skated to the W.E. soundtrack by Abel Korzeniowski in their SD 2015/2016. It´s one of my all-time favourite programs in FS in general ;-)

I´m sure they´ll find music that fits their skating and moves it on the next level. I´m sooo looking forward for what they will bring up for us :-)

I'm repeating myself obviously, but don't forget to send them via DM on instagram (mostly - or twitter) all your music ideas for RD and FD (or even EX) ! The skaters truly needs those. :) It might be slightly harder for them in this particular off-season to kept the research process going with music, and we know how the figure skating fans can be inspired sometimes :plush:

I feel stupid now but I had no idea I could send text messages via instagram (I only use it for DIY ideas and stalking following ice skaters).

But I feel a bit too shy about submitting my ideas to figure skaters (and I do not have that many ideas for P/C, which is good, because I wanna be surprised !). Even when they explicitly ask for ideas, like Madison Hubbell did, I do not feel confident enough to do so (and besides, I would have to figure out instagram).

I'd say go for it anyway, there is no such thing as a stupid suggestion ! WeaPo got "Je suis malade" by email, it was a fan suggestion  And now it's their most iconic program.
