This is a cheer thread dedicated to all the figure skaters and ice dancers who are competing in PyeongChang. I will be linking and sharing information about the skaters' and their teams throughout the Olympics. I welcome you to share if you would like, your Olympic well-wishes, comments, links or any interesting stuff you may run across for the athletes of :
  • Team U.S.A.
  • Team Canada
  • OAR (Team Russia)
  • Team Japan
  • Team China
  • Team Italy
  • Team France
  • Team Germany
  • Team Australia
  • Team South Korea
  • And all the GREAT teams that makeup our fabulous sport! :encore:
Here’s a random little something that I’ve noticed in articles the last few days -- it appears that we have a couple of Team U.S.A. Olympians who really like chocolate, a lot! Breakfast for champions? Looking at you, Karen Chen & Maia Shibutani.

On a serious note, I would like to wish every figure skater and ice dancer representing their country at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games an amazing Olympic experience. I hope it will be everything you have ever dreamed of. Good luck!!

Team Israel's danger on the ice, Alexei Bychenko!

This article also highlights Alexei's work ethic... Alexei does cardio, stretching and strength training off the ice three hours a day AND coaches eight other Israeli skaters at Ice House. :respec: That is what you call an inspiring, indefatigable skater/athlete - Awesome! Good luck, Team Israel! :cheer2:

I've always thought that it was important to give skaters from countries that don't necessarily receive a ton of attention, recognition or fanfare, but indeed make the Olympic Games what they are, unique and memorable, their just desserts. Granted, Team Australia has not exactly been ignored, per se, but because I am underdog inclined, I've linked an article that puts the spotlight on these remarkable athletes. I must say that I am beyond thrilled to see Australia's program growing day by day!

https://twitter.com/sportsjapan/status/959629447514144769: According to this, Yuzu will be in the house. I wondered because of the blackout that was put in place. It is always disconcerting when there is little to no information or updates on an injured (previously injured) athlete. Usually not a good sign, but this might turn out to be okay. Stay tuned...

Team Japan, as mentioned, has arrived in PyeongChang! "Let the games begin!"

And, as if we didn't already know, but: https://twitter.com/sportsjapan/status/956786225649672192 ... as big as The Showman!

https://www.olympic.org/news/more-yog-stars-hit-form-ahead-of-pyeongchang-2018: I've linked this article which is a blurb, more than anything, at the urging and request of my 16yr old niece who has developed a :swoon: for Deniss. It is linked primarily for the photo which is “an excellent shot of Deniss looking fierce!” (her words!) :drama:  ... oh, boy...

Props to the photographer, and good luck to Deniss Vasiljevs representing Team Latvia!

https://www.olympic.org/news/olympic-torch-relay-enters-final-straight: Getting even more excited for the games to begin! Can't wait! :biggrinbo

It is quite possible that these articles have already been linked in another thread, my apologies if so. It is difficult to navigate through all the threads to be certain, and I hope that no one gets too :angryfire about it. Most likely, posters will see it in the original thread before they'll ever discover it here. :) :40beers:

Team U.S.A.!! http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/meet-team-usa-figure-skating?chrcontext=teamusa

Nathan Chen 'owns it' in that photo :respec: I'm glad USFS chose to use it on their site as their Men's National Champion pic for the next year.

ETA: Actually, I'm not sure if it is the exact photo that was used at the USFS site. I see a subtle difference here and there, but, one thing is for sure, Nathan's got the champion pose down. Hope he gets to use it @ the Games!

The 'other' gold medal threat ;) https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports...anyu-will-skate-individual-event-pyeongchang/
