I am still surprised that Buzz has not posted that Manchester United defeated Chelsea 2-1....;)

NJL (A rare thing lately. Chelsea has had Man U's number. An interesting game to watch.)

Buzz, nothing about Man U 3 v 2 Crystal Palace? One of the wilder games I have watched this year and a heart-breaker for Palace.

It was a wonderful match but I must admit to being shocked at Man U comeback.

Only the winning goal in added time surprised me. The first one seemed inevitable and the second one, too. The game winner was shocking because it was Matic's 10th goal in the Prem all time. He is a strong defensive midfielder, but he does not score often. Plus it was from so far out.

Buzz, you have nothing to say about ManU beating ManCity 3-2? One more time the guys in the red jerseys fall behind (0-2 at the half) to stage a remarkable 2nd half comeback. All the more remarkable since this was an away game for ManU.

It was a B team for City since they do have a major Champions League game Tuesday, but they looked like world beaters in the 1st half and should have had at least 2 more goals before the end of the half. They didn't and they paid the price. Now they will probably have to win at least 2 more league games, or ManU lose, to win the EPL Championship.

Now City has to make up a 3 goal deficit Tuesday against a team, Liverpool, that has beaten them twice this season or enter the end of the season a 3 game losing streak.

NJL (the EPL may not be the best league in Europe or have the best teams, but it the most unpredictable, thus, the most fun and interesting...:biggrinbo..)

Well after beating Man City last week, Man Utd capitulate to West Brom who are currently floundering at the bottom of the Premier thus handing the title to City today.

One of the great jobs of getting your team up for a lesser opponent by Jose Marino. ManU got exactly what they deserved.

NJL (Liverpool is now one (1) point behind ManU with ManU having a game in hand. I'll not be surprised if Liverpool passes them. There is a new bully in Manchester and it wears sky blue...;)...)

Russia is well known for this kind of behavior...and nobody seems to care
This alone should make for an interesting WC 2018 even if team USA is, deservedly, not involved. The Russian's behavior towards POC could make that more important to the excellent soccer that will be played. I hope this is not the case and all concentrate on sports premier event, but some actions at Russian stadiums in the past few years can make people doubt it...:(

NJL (My special thanks to the current occupant of the White House for his excellent defense of the Tri-Country application for the 2026 WC. Nothing works like "subtle" threats to get your way.......)

None of this is new or surprising but Russia got the WC anyway. All concerns and complaints to FIFA have fallen on deaf ears. Doubt anyone is listening now. I find myself not quite as excited for this WC as I have been for past World Cups.

(*sigh*)....Ireland 2 v USA 1 in Dublin. The teen agers played a decent game and led 0-1 at the half off of an added time poachers goal by the USA's Bobby Wood.

A poor piece of goalkeeping by the USA gave Ireland a bit of a gift in the 57th minute to tie at 1-1. Both teams had their moments during the 2nd half with Ireland clearly dominating toward the end. A throw in for Ireland in the 89th minute led to a goal for Ireland featuring some of the most inept defense imaginable buy the USA.

Overall a discouraging score, but for a team with no know stars playing and with 3 more players getting their first caps a reasonable result.

Next team USA travels to France to play a team that just beat Ireland 2-0. We will see how the teenagers fare against one of the best teams in Europe. I just hope the score doesn't get too far out of hand.

NJL (FYI....Mexico's two games this week: Mexico 0-0 Wales, without Gareth Bale, and Mexico 1 v 0 Scotland. El Tri did not impress me. They must get their act together ASAP or they will be 3 and out in Russia...)

France 1 v 1 USA!

The teens played very well and France seemed to be just a step slow. Possibly team France realized that their next game, in Russia v Australia, is a bit more important than this one? Maybe. Never-the-less the USA did put on a good performance against a team that should have destroyed them before the half.

NJL (...Denmark 2 v 0 Mexico is a good result, too...;)...)
