KOR didn't quality individually so Kim/Kam could only compete through the Team Event and if the Korea will be one country for the TE then PRK's team will have to do it since they qualified individually and thus Kim/Kam won't be able to.
ok, got it! thanks.

That isn't quite accurate. South Korea's pairs team is allowed to compete in the individual event as the host nation and because not all of the 10 additional spaces allotted to competitors for the Team Event were utilized by the qualifying countries. This year, because South Korea also qualified for the Team Event, the additional athletes quota wasn't an issue for the individual event.

So it looks like @Tinami Amori's wish is still possible without affecting Ryom/Kim and Kam/Kim, unless they decide to be one team for the entire sport. It seems as though it's not happening though according the article I linked above.

Oh they did? If Korea becomes one team outside the TE, would they lose it?

No. South Korea has a host spot (that they will not lose) and North Korea has an IOC wildcard spot with the result that there will be two pair teams representing Korea.

I was just confused because if they were to be considered one team, then they wouldn't need to use a host spot since Ryom/Kim already qualified but it seems Ryom/Kim having a wildcard sport changes things up.

Kim/Kam withdrew from the SP at Four Continents. Why?

If they aren't going to be able to participate at the Olympics, then perhaps there could be a joint South/North Korean squad in the Team Event.

I posted these items in the News thread in the 4CC subforum in Kiss & Cry:

AFP newswire article (recap of Day 1): Rapturous welcome for North Korea pair in Taiwan
Speaking after the performance, Ryom, 18, said they were "not satisfied", according to the International Skating Union website. Kim, 25, said they must hold on to their leads better.
"All competitions are important to us, so we will keep working hard, not only for the Olympics but also for winning in upcoming competitions," Ryom said.
...
South Korean skater Kim Kyueun, who had to drop out from the pairs competition after her partner Alex Kam was injured, told AFP the pair were "very friendly and kind and a little bit shy".
From the ISU: "Kyueun Kim/Alex Kang Chan Kam (KOR) withdrew from the event before the Short Program due to a shoulder injury for Kam."

(I don't like the hype and wording of the situation by the western press), but there is a disagreement taking place now between S.K and N.K side over a joint Olympics Cultural event, which if one reads further into the texts, will not affect athletic venues, hopefully.

Associated Press article: N. Korea skaters draw applause during Olympic practice
A pair of smiling North Korean skaters carried out lifts, death spirals and other difficult moves during practices ahead of the Winter Olympics, drawing applause from South Korean spectators at Gangneung Ice Arena on Saturday.
...
Unlike many other North Korean athletes who looked serious and rarely answered reporters' questions, the duo appeared more natural and often smiled when they practiced and passed through a mixed zone — an area where athletes go through after games or training.
Ryom, who turned 19 on Friday, already got the nickname "angel of smile" by some South Korean media outlets, after she waved and smiled broadly when she arrived at the Gangneung athletes' village on Thursday evening.
"I feel good," she told reporters in brief comments after training with Kim in the second practice at the venue since their arrival in South Korea.
Dozens of reporters, photographers and TV crews watched them perform at the Gangneung Arena's underground training site. Volunteer workers and organizing committee staff, many of them South Koreans, also watched the duo's practice, giving them a round of applause at least twice during about an hour-long session.
"It's good that everyone is welcoming us like this," the duo's North Korean coach, Kim Hyon Son, told reporters.
ETA - here is an article and 2 photos from Ryom/Kim's first practice on Olympic ice on Friday: http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2018/02/02/0200000000AEN20180202002951315.html

For North Korean Skaters, the Short Program Is Part of a Bigger Plan
“One of the questions they ask me is, ‘What can we do to get better?’” Marcotte said. “My first answer is, they need to compete more often. The more they are exposed to competition, they will understand what they need to get their scores better and the more familiar they will be to the judges.”
I hope they relayed the advice to their Federation and that the Federation listened.

Snegurochka might just be my new favourite word. :D

Snegurochka is a delightful Russian story (folk take) of a girl created/adopted by a childless old couple. She eventually melted because she was made from snow. Not sure why they would use her name to create coats, but it is a very nice name and a nice story.
