I’m very disappointed with Making the Cut, too. I wanted to like it lot. I liked how the focus was on designing rather than gimmicks or sewing. I really liked it in the beginning but I just seemed to go downhill. @Matryeshka You're right when you say it’s more of a vanity project for Tim and Heidi than a competition show. I want to see less of their dates and more of the designing process. It’s s huge disappointment. I loved Next In Fashion and hope it comes back for a second season. It is just 1000 times better than Making the Cut.

Over the last 2-3 weeks I (re)watched The Americans. The episodes I rewatched, I watched in full lengths, no fastforwarding. The writers have done an amazing job in developing the characters, the story lines. The setting is great, same goes for the plot.

While I understand that the showrunners/Network opted for cancelation of the show, I just feel there could be more to tell. Probably set in the late nineties in America as a spin-off with their grown-up kids.

My husband and I agree The Americans might be the best series we’ve ever watched (for me, tied with West Wing and Hill Street Blues).

I’d love a sequel focusing on the kids as well as the parents’ adapting to the new Russia.

I cannot wait to watch this:

The story of the battle of the Equal Rights Amendment with the unexpected backlash created by Phyllis Schlafly (Cate Blanchett). Gloria Steinem (Rose Byrne) is a central character of this limited series with many other notable feminists included including Tracy Ullman as Betty Friedan. One reviewer said Ullman actually gives the best performance as Friedan who feels she's owed more from the movement (the second wave feminist movement) than what she received.

I think this is going to be fascinating and will show how the U.S. got to where it's at now where feminism is such a hot topic issue with so much :argue: and us having to deal with the "moral majority". I also think it played out with a recent Presidential race.

ITA. We have to finish Succession and...
Episode one of "Unorthodox" on Netflix....so good!!

Watching all four episodes today. We know a lot about that life and culture and think it’s very good, especially the lead actress whom I’ve never seen before.

Anyone watched Prime’s Treadstone? How do I turn on the subtitles? And oh yeah this is one confusing show.

Never mind. I figured it out. :D

Good to see you have taste in some things even though The Americans is vastly superior to Hill Street Blues. :p

Disclaimer: I’ve never seen West Wing so can’t say if you are wrong about that. :D

I can tell. @PRlady is right. West Wing is great. Entertaining. I've learned tons about America. I remember, that it took me a while to figure out what this (bi)partisan-thing means, always thinking about partisans in Yugoslavia or Greece

We, some friends and I, binged every seaseon, when binge-watching wasn't even invented. We took turns in ordering/buying the DVD sets, and met for a prolonged weekend. This was in the age before streaming. The first three seasons we've got from a screenwriter friend of one of my screenwriter friends ...
Oh dear, this was just some 20 y ago and it feels like another lifetime. Fast internet changed so much. It's so easy now. And we complain when a stream is buffering.

I'm on episode 5 of Top Chef now and

Can Marlarkey PLEASE GO AWAY! I disliked a great number of contestants on all sorts of cooking shows, but he's by far the most annoying. He may be the most successful in terms of $$$ but I think he's out of his depth when it comes to actual cooking. His ego and attitude and obnoxiousness doesn't match what I'm seeing from him. Also, Leeanne seems to have a real issue finishing. She seems to be making technical errors I don't remember seeing from her. Melissa, Karen, and Gregory are my faves. Nini was my fave from last season but so far I haven't seen her knock it out of the park like she did last season when she kept winning challenges. I hope she isn't feeling too insecure being around all these chefs with bigger resumes. I wasn't a fan of Eric last season (especially when he led the chant to have the people at that university heckle the hometown contestant and didn't take ownership of that with his BFF on that show continuing to make fun of that contestant) and I wouldn't mind seeing him go either. His only saving grace is that he does cook a style of cuisine we don't see often enough on these shows.

We are so into "the boat show" as we call it - pretty much every iteration of the Below Deck franchise.

I watched a goofy children's movie called "The Willoughbys" and enjoyed it. I followed it with "Spenser For Hire." I'm not a Mark Wahlberg fan but I liked him in this and particularly liked Winston Duke as Hawk. But the first film was so much silly fun. Both are on Netflix.

I can't focus on tv, apparently - which is good, because I finally finished the book I started a month ago.

I watched the pilot and about 20 minutes of the 2nd episode of Breaking Bad. I know this is heresy, but it didn't hold my interest.

Is The Americans available on Hulu? I saw a few episodes from S1 years ago and have been wanting to continue with it, but right now only have Netflix, and I won't watching anything through Amazon.

I'm not a big fan either. Too many people who were unlikeable dealing with problems they brought upon themselves.

I'm watching "Say Yes to the Dress" I've watched it before. It's not really my thing. But the episode I saw had someone who wanted to channel Princess Leia on her wedding day. They didn't satisfy her but I immediately had an idea for a dress so I think they missed the mark.

Did they have anything in their inventory to provide that for her? I wouldn't think they would. I remember helping my best friend shop at Kleinfeld's and though there was a lot to choose from, nothing seemed too far-off-the-mark from the typical styles of wedding dresses.

They had one dress she really liked. It was kind of vintage which she also said she was looking for. I think they needed to add some sort of cape/train to it to get that Leia look. It would have just been a suggestion of her outfits in the movies.

Something like this:

Or this:

Put something cape-y on the back of a traditional wedding dress with similar lines to her dress and I bet she would have bought it.

Though this works too (but maybe not for that bride):

or how about this:

Just finished the last episode of Ozark and was so excited to start the next season, only to find out that there are currently no more episodes! Now what am I going to watch?

Anybody here into anime/animated series? I recently watched "The Dragon Prince" and am just wrapping up "Castlevania" on Netflix, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations in a similar vein. (Yes, I've seen "Yuri On Ice." Loved it.)

Finally found my way to "Don't F*** With Cats" and I was enthralled by the idea of tracking down this sick f*** who thought he was smarter than everyone else. I thought it was well worth my time.

A Secret Love on Netflix, anyone? 😭😭

I'm such a sucker for these stories!

So poignant, so many tears, and so inspiring. I only wish it ran longer and was left wanting more, which is a good sign. I wanted to explore more of Pat and Terry's early life together and their "other family", but can understand why that wasn't explored more.

Thank goodness Oprah Magazine has a post-documentary update:
