I find that the show is melodramatic and implausible in certain aspects. But the things I like about it are the central relationship between Johnny and Daniel, the generally appealing characters, and the idea that trying to work out your childhood and adolescent issues isn't something that magically goes away once you reach adulthood (however much you might wish for that! LOL). Oh, and the humor. That's the best part! :D
 
Not to mention how they bring back so many characters from the movies. I've especially enjoyed those episodes. And the underlying theme that there's not one good and one bad, but both Daniel and Johnny have good and bad aspects in their personalities. And how they have tried delving into what made Johnny the way he is.
 
For me, the best parts are Johnny and his relationship with Miguel, and now Terry Silver. I’ve always found Daniel annoying , even in the original trilogy and could never understand what Aly or Kumiko saw in him.
 
This series has that kind of Edmund Gorey things that go bump in the night feel to it. I love the animation too. Called "The House" on Netflix. One house; different stories.

If the person is interested in music, rock music history, the art of song writing, fabulous 60s fashion, I say yes. I've seen some people say that parts of it were a slog.There are a handful of songs that were done over and over, at least parts of them (rehearsal, writing).

I enjoyed it so much I watched it twice. I am now more of a fan after watching the documentary.

I liked this most recent season a lot better than the last. Last season I felt like the fighting really overwhelmed everything else. This season had a better balance IMO. It still has its silliness but I found it a lot more engaging and I thought there were some legitimately touching moments as well. Some really fine acting from William Zabka and Xolo Mariduena.
 
I finished "Vigil" on Peacock. I must say it kept me guessing until the end. Good show. Also it's been awhile since I watched a new show that made me feel uplifted and positive at the end of the first episode. I always liked Brdiget Everett and I think I'm going to love her in this new show on HBOMAX: Somebody Somewhere

Just finished watching four seasons of "Cobra Kai" and can't wait for the fifth. I love the interrelationships, and particularly the dynamic between Johnny and Daniel. Even after they appeared to mend their relationship, they continue to bicker and 'break up' over and over again because of how fundamentally different they are on some levels, yet exactly the same in others. And the students' confusion over the constant push and pull between them is kind of amusing too.

Also, I think the guy that plays Hawk/Eli is probably my favorite. He's really good at making you feel for him even when he's being a complete ass.
 
So I’ve been watching And Just Like That and between this latest episode and me re-watching the series on HBO and remembering the first movie (never watched the second), I have to say this is like fan fiction gone wrong written by someone who clearly hates or never truly understood:

Miranda Hobbes and Steve. Miranda went from complicated character with issues and flaws but still had a clear awareness of how her actions harmed others into a serious sociopath. The new show makes her out to be this one midlife crisis tornado destroying everything and everybody around her. And I can’t deal with Steve the bumbling idiot they have rewritten to be all because he needs hearing aids? Pure evil isn’t Voldemort, it’s a life partner who is toxic, has no remorse in cheating on you, doesn’t think she’s done anything wrong even though she clearly is, doesn’t tell the person she’s cheating with that her husband isn’t in on their affair (and how fake that that wouldn’t be one of the first things Che would have established?), blames lack of sex life but then tries to recreate the type of sex she had with her husband when she cheated on him, is unhappy and I get that but won’t even and doesn’t talk to her husband about it?, has a drinking problem but that just disappears because it’s convenient for the storyline?, and in this episode couldn’t even bother to buy him a brownie because she’s too cheap to do so despite all the money she spends? She truly is the worst person in television and yea I’m counting characters who are trying to destroy the world or something…like terrorists, ancient monsters, serial killers, etc. Their crimes are fictional, my annoyance with Miranda is real. And no show runners I don’t dislike her in some sort of lopsided gender thing even though you acknowledge you created this storyline to show “good people do bad things” but then backtrack that with the “lopsided gender thing” attack when you see very valid criticism of her. And what’s with the fake storyline about her becoming a human rights or international rights attorney? I see her doing no work towards that. That would have been a lot more interesting than portraying the one queer relationship as whatever the hell they doing with Miranda. Her storyline is just horrific all around. And the sad part is that these show runners probably think they’re doing something bold with this storyline but it’s actually incredibly tired and cliched but in the process totally ruined Miranda as a character and pays no respect to Steve as one who the show spent years making the audience know and love. And the fact Carrie and Charlotte aren’t putting her in her place with that makes the show seem like we’re supposed to be rooting for her. Even that scene when Charlotte was mad at her, Charlotte didn’t emphasize or get into the whole lying and cheating behind Steve’s back thing.
 
I also finished the 4th season of Cobra Kai, I agree with others that it's better than the 3rd, it might even be my favorite season, I found it pretty much perfect, dramatic, but not too much (I thought the 3rd season was a bit too heavy) , funny and lots of great character developments. Silver is quite the villain.
 
I watched Nobody which was produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch (John Wick, Fast & Furious). Think a slightly funnier John Wick that wants his kid's kitty bracelet instead of dead dog revenge. Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) is the nobody. It's alright. I liked the John Wick series better but if you are looking for action this one works fine.
 
So I have insomnia at times and also require less sleep (so far) as I age. Streaming is a godsend. I watched several episodes of “Midnight Asia: Eat, Dance, Dream.” The nightlife in these cities looks stellar if you know where to look. Netflix

Prepare yourself for Episode 5 of S2. I expected the coverage of Jerry’s situation to be heavier than the usual episode, but it was much heavier than I was expecting.
 
Yeah, I'm expecting that to get bad. I've noticed they tried to go really Jerry light on all episodes to that point. He's only shown when they absolutely can't leave him out.

I am on a free trial right now and thinking about signing up so I can watch the various Star Trek series, and I’m watching The Good Fight right now. Might be worth it.

Honestly, I think Silver makes a much scarier villain than Kreese. He's a true psycho -- as evidenced by the fact that Daniel is genuinely terrified of him. Kreese has his moments of humanity, even if they're rare. And yes, I also think season 4 was superior to season 3.

I looked in my history and saw that I got bogged down in season 3 of Cobra Kai. So I'm going to go back and give it a relook. I'll just make a mental note that it gets better. I did enjoy seasons 1-2 and now you are making me feel like I'm missing out again on season 4. I'll just make sure I "watch" season 3 while I'm in my cooking/cleaning modes.
 
I preferred Season 4 over season 3 too. I think the actor who plays Silver is just plain better and more nuanced than the actor who plays Kreese. I liked that the violence was less over-the-top this most recent season.
 
Mr. Mac and I watch a YouTube channel called Cinema Therapy where a therapist and a filmmaker talk about movies. This week they were talking about a Netflix movie called "The Mitchells vs. the Machines," which we hadn't seen. So we decided to watch it first and it was awesome! I highly recommend it!

It's an animated film about a family trying to communicate better while also saving the world from Steve Jobs. :lol: Okay, it's not really him. But it's him if you know what I mean. The Tech Guy creates these robots to replace our phones and the robots go rogue and capture all the humans in order to shoot them off into space.

I love Thomas Ian Griffith. I'm so happy they brought him back to the franchise. I don't know if he's a better actor than Martin Kove, per se, but I do think the writing for Terry Silver is better. They tried to give Kreese more depth, but IMO it was only marginally successful, and I'm not sure if it's the actor or the writing. I'm interested to see what they do with Kreese next season -- i.e., does he just go to prison, or are they going to drag the storyline out with a trial, etc.?
 
We watched the first 5 episodes of 1883 and so far, I would give it a B or C+. There is an anachronistic feel to a lot of the dialogue and characterizations that doesn't quite work for me, particularly the main character's daughter. In some ways she is the most interesting character, but at the same time, not fully plausible, plus her voiceover dialogue tends toward the obvious. Some of the actors are good (notably Tim McGraw and Sam Elliott's second-in-command), while others don't seem to quite fit (Faith Hill, Ennis). I felt like there should have been more explication of certain points; they kind of skip over some fairly important information. (For example, I initially thought all the people traveling in the wagon caravan were a group, only to later find out they weren't.) My husband feels like the show unnecessarily glorifies the pro-gun cowboy culture of the West. (I'm not sure if you can have a Western that doesn't do that, but I see his point.)

HBOMAX: First episode of "The Gilded Age" is up and I watched it. I will give this some time but I'm not sure I care enough about the Astors and the Vanderbilts and new money "interlopers." Julian Fellowes has a good cast to work with and the usual upstairs/downstairs drama. And we get to see a gilded age "McMansion" in all it's glory (or tackiness.) It could be fun just as a costume drama. The gowns are splendid as is the scenery both in New York and Newport.
