Falcon and Winter Soldier are two of my least favorite Avenger characters. But I've been warming up to Bucky from watching the new show.
Hee. I never liked Captain America much but I enjoyed Winter Soldier and Civil War a lot. Sam and Bucky had a lot to do with that enjoyment. And Captain America totally grew on me.

Falcon and Winter Soldier episode 4 - OH s****! That ending was insane!

I rue the day I started to watch this series. I should've binged once all of it was available. I HATE having to wait a week.

Oh my god, that ending of Episode 4 of Falcon and the Winter Soldier!

I really, really wish Bucky had smashed John Walker's face in earlier!

The blood running down from under the helmet! I am sure it signifies something, they kept too close on it. What does it mean? A Red Skull-like reaction?

Sam was so close to getting through to her. His plan was working!

It's good that Zemo reminded us a few times this episode that he's not really a good person. I feel like a few too many people forgot that after episode three. I also feel like we haven't seen the last of him.

And goddamn, I feel like Sebastian Stan should pick up a few award nominations for this. His acting of Bucky has always been top-notch - especially in the second Cap movie where Bucky has very few lines and the acting is all non-verbal - but that scene in Wakanda where they remove the code words from him and he's freed was absolutely perfect.

“The Nevers” opens tonight—just found out Joss Whedon is the producer.
But I recently finished “Q: Into the Storm” on Netflix and thought it was put together well and thought the revelation of Q’s identity was not a surprise by the end of the series. I am still flummoxed that so many people fell for this malarkey and willingly produced a dark, sad day in our political history.

Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe have tweeted that season six of Starz' Outlander will premiere on February 13th, 2022. I informed them that the 2022 Olympics will be in full swing, which I somehow doubt matters to them. It looks like the premiere will conflict with the free dance....:(

Bridgerton is renewed for 3rd/4th seasons, according to this interview with Shonda Rhimes:

I've been reading all of the Bridgerton series and while they are far from great literature, their soap opera nature should make for good escapism. On to baby brother Gregory's season.

Love and Monsters: Saw this yesterday and was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It’s a really fun, silly, and light hearted movie. Plus it stars a really gorgeous pupper! :cheer2:

I enjoyed this one as well. More to it than I was expecting.

Ok so I have zero will power! LOL I broke down and watched TFATWS episode 5 and all I can say is WOWZERS! I did not see that cameo coming! This is an amazing show. Marvel has us both glued to our seats and squirming in them at the same time.

You know, on the surface, you could think that Ep 5 on FATWS didn't really have all that much going on, that it was a filler episode. But really, I absolutely loved it and so much happened!

First: the Sam/Bucky/Walker fight. Oh god. So epic. Walker just completely losing his mind and being so difficult to take down as a result. And the savage broken arm! And then the desperate way Sam was trying to clean the blood off the shield.

Bucky going after Zemo. The way Zemo was so ready to accept death but is still terrified of Bucky. And then really Bucky called in the Wakandans!

The intense conversation between Sam and Isaiah. The revelation that Isaiah had basically done what Steve did...only where Steve got medals and praise, Isaiah got thrown in jail and experimented on. Reference to the Tuskagee Airmen outright - Disney not holding back! Interesting effect on Sam's psyche.

Sam goes back to work on the boat. I love that Bucky joins him. Having a super soldier around would come in handy. But hoo boy Bucky, stop flirting with Sam's sister, you're not ready for that fight. I found the boat scenes really - almost therapeutic. We got a calm, domestic Bucky and Sam, working with hands, relaxed. Bucky's smile when he wakes up on the couch and sees Sam's nephews playing with the shield is just a delight. That stay in Louisiana appears to have done more for Bucky than his therapist ever did.

I love Sam's little pep talk. I love the way Bucky apologises. I love the way these two love each other and totally, completely, utterly refuse to admit it.

I enjoyed Sam's training montage but I did catch myself going "uh, how long is this covering? What are the flagsmashers up to?"

I am so going to cry because Bucky is 100% going to go tell the old man he killed his son.

So last episode is next week and I am SO NERVOUS. They could definitely have done with eight episodes or more for this series.

Regarding the cameo though

When they said it would make you cry, I immediately assumed we were getting T'Challa (fitting with the presence of the Wakandans), or some kind of holo-Tony (after Sam's wings broke), or even old-Steve. When the episode ended I realised I'd missed it and had to Google the cameo to see what it was. Apparently it was the blue-haired lady who approaches Walker? Why am I crying about that?

I really enjoyed the first episode of "Mare of Easttown"---so many rich characters and layers to this story. I think I now associate Kate Winslet with Meryl Streep because I know if they are involved their characters will usually be riveting. And Winslet does not disappoint here.

I'm waiting for this series to fully air before I binge on it. I read it's similar to Happy Valley, which I just love. Sarah Lancashire was incredible in it so that's a very high bar. I hope I'm not disappointed when I watch it.

I watched Becoming Jacob on Apple TV. I read the book a few years ago. I thought the performances were good. But the book is so much better.

Yes...I wish there was more "Happy Valley" but I guess ultimately you want to leave them wanting more. I do like series like "Vera" that is more police procedural but it is the character driven shows that shine imho.

I started watching the K-drama Navillera. It's about a 70-yr-old man who has always wanted to learn ballet and starts getting instruction from a troubled young male dancer. Cute.

Also, finished Season 3 of Shtisel. So good!

I just finished watching The Serpent on Netflix. It's a pretty interesting look at one of the most successful international serial killers from the 1970's. It was a Dutch diplomat that became obsessed with finding him and bringing him to justice. There was a scene where the diplomat was calling all over the world trying to find a police department that could arrest him. Each one ending in inaction because it wasn't their jurisdiction. Dutch, Canadians, Germans, etc killed in Thailand by a Frenchman. So many international roadblocks helped him escape capture for a long time.

If you like true crime series I would recommend watching this one.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Falcon and the Winter Soldier final was SO GOOD!

I literally kept checking Disney+ from the moment I logged off work for the day to see when it went up and then as soon as it did I sat down to watch. And I wasn't disappointed!

First of all: THEY DID IT! The end title was CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE WINTER SOLDIER! (I thought they might have gone for Captain America and the White Wolf but I guess Bucky's not quite there yet.) So if we get season 2, that's what it'll be called, I guess!

That was as good a finale as I could have hoped for. I was really worried when I saw the runtime but I needn't have; they wrapped up most of the threads and left room for a second season.

I liked that we got the Batroc/Sam fight and I like that was kept realistic, Sam didn't suddenly get a super-solider-level upgrade just because he got the shield. (I may have screeeeeeched when Sam appeared in that wicked cool suit and with the shield!)

I also liked that Karli seems to have realised that Sam is not the only Good Person on that side - that Bucky is also a Good Person and susceptible to those sorts of flaws as well. I did laugh when she asked if Bucky had ever fought for something bigger than him - girl, that guy was punching Nazis when your grandparents were your age!

I thought for a bit we might get the other Flag Smashers turning on Karli when she mentioned killing the hostages. We've definitely seen plenty of reticence from them in past episodes but this seemed beyond the pale for the others.

The triple fight scene with Sam chasing the helicopter and Bucky fighting to free the politicians and John fighting the Flag Smashers had my heart rate going crazy!

JOHN. WALKER. I love it. I still dislike him. But goddamn I was so proud of him. He had the opportunity to go after the Flag Smashers and saw the van going to go over. And he chose to do the right thing. And then he humbled himself and worked with Bucky and Sam. Even took part in some banter with Bucky. For a moment, we were given a look at how great that could have been. He even has his introspection during Sam's speech, and acknowledges him as Cap. And even the transfer to US Agent feels wholesome and good, even if we know it's really not a good thing.

BUCKY. The anguish and desperation on his face when he was trying to save the politicians from the van - and he got his moment like Steve and the helicopter in Civil War. And despite his banter that Sam is too good, even he let himself try and talk Karli down. I loved the launched tackle off the motorbike. HE CALLED SAM CAP. (Of course then he pretended he didn't care. BUT WE KNOW HE DID.) But dear god did I ever cry when he told Yori. (And I note he's still flirting with Sam's sister at the end!)

Sam. Dear, dear Sam. This is why you were chosen. This is what Steve saw. Your tremendously huge heart, your beautiful wonderful soul. Still fighting to save Karli, til the end. Not afraid to give the politicians that dressing down. And using his power to make sure Isaiah's story was told, and that Sharon got her pardon. I love what they did with Sam's character here. He's absolutely blossomed from the funny guy who Cap meets in WS to Captain America in his own right. And he does it without compromising his beliefs for a moment. It was absolutely perfect.

Also: Sharon's the PowerBroker, not a surprise, saw that one coming. That's setting up for something nasty in season 2. Torres is still adorable, I hope he becomes Falcon in S2 like he does in the comics. Was the old man who blew up the Flag Smashers Zemo's butler? Zemo sure looked far too happy about it.

Oh! And I forgot one last thing.

Bucky's still trying to get himself in trouble with Sam, I see. ;)

I noticed at the cookout at the end he was still grinning at Sarah...while her kids were swinging off the metal arm.

Really enjoyed the finale of TFATWS. Anthony Mackie for the win! He made me tear up and everything. It was way more moving than I thought it would ever be.

My friends and I have an A-Team joke when we have to put a new trash bag in the can. If we are around each other we have to ask for them in that voice too. I took out the trash today and got nostalgic for cars blowing up and silly Murdock fun. Some of my favorites would be Billy the invisible dog, his sock puppet, and of course, trash bags. The 5 seasons are streaming on the Roku channel and I have been binging A-Team all day.

Just binged on Who Killed Sara? on Netflix. I wasn't expecting to like it much but I did. And season 2 is coming out in May. Thank goodness I don't have to wait for long!
Right? It was so gripping. Whee can hardly wait for May! Do you know kinda the date? I always find that I find something that I really, really liked and then it takes me quite a while to find another.

May 19.

About TFATWS, something fun for my entire family:
our very uncommon last name was listed TWICE in Bucky's book of amends. I confess to totally geeking out over that.
