Sonja Hilmer skated to the theme from Rent. She was accompanied by a live choir which did a lovely job. No mention was made of the name of the choir or their relation to skating.
I saw a wichita news story that they had invited a local theater company to perform some songs live for the skaters so I think it's just a cool thing to involve local performersSonja Hilmer skated to the theme from Rent. Taking a page out of Kaunas! Good move by the USFS & Wichita organizers.I saw a wichita news story that they had invited a local theater company to perform some songs live for the skaters so I think it's just a cool thing to involve local performers
@Rukia thanks for clarifying. It would have been nice for the choir to get some recognition in front of the crowd watching the Gala.I saw a wichita news story that they had invited a local theater company to perform some songs live for the skaters so I think it's just a cool thing to involve local performers
Are the screaming announcer women working the gala? I figured they were and decided I couldn’t handle them for two more hours.
Two members of the local musical group sang "Time of my life" while Williams and Lewer skated to the music. Announcer mentioned the singers were from the Music Theater of Wichita.@Rukia thanks for clarifying. There was no list that I saw. Going on memory:Anyone have the list of who skated?
Z/K did not skate, it was reported that Vadym was not feeling well this week
When I went to watch the gala last night, the tile was already gone.![]()

We ran into Michael and Caroline at the airport as we were heading home yesterday morning and we complimented them on their awesome exhibition. They were very appreciative and said that they only came up with the idea while they were in Wichita! It was Caroline's idea and they had no clue how it was all going to go with all the backstage stuff so they're thrilled that everyone loved it. They were super sweet and grateful for the support.![]()
Peacock has a tile up for the gala now. Feb. 2, 9 am Pacific. Two hours.
