Just got back from the Nashville show last night and I'll share a few thoughts on the event. I attended show in 2023 and attendance was a little down this year in comparison. 2023 had a country music theme so I suspect that was a contributing factor. Still, it was an enjoyable show and in some ways I prefer this format over ice shows with the typical gala format. The live music adds a lot to the fun and helps draw a different crowd than what you would typically see at SOI.
The skaters all seemed to be enjoying themselves and were well appreciated by the audience. Strangely, Nathan did not have a true solo program and instead was the featured performer in the group number I posted above. He also did not attempt any jumps aside from several backflips, which made me wonder if he is nursing an injury or was just physically not prepared to perform a full solo routine. That said, even without the jumps there was a special quality to his movements which clearly stood out from rest of the cast. I felt similarly about Katia Gordeeva.
If Nathan does not particiate in SOI in the Spring this will probably have been his last public performance for a very long time. His talents will be greatly missed.
