USFS and Nathan say, "Happy Ice Skating Day!"
Male bonding with JLB backstage at SOI

Patiently speaking with a little girl at yesterday's book signing.

Nathan in NYC last week

Yahoo! Japan announced the most searched athletes for 2022, and to no surprise Yuzu was first. However, of the other figure skaters Nathan came 7th, just behind Kaori (6th) and Shoma (9th). Not bad for a foreigner!

The People's Choice Awards are tonight and will be broadcast on NBC. I don't expect Nathan to win but I suppose stranger things have happened. :p

A little info on the Vail show. Apparently the second half of the show will be dedicated to the "Musical British Invasion of yesterday and today." I'd love to see him skate a Beatles program as I heard he did one at Sun Valley one year.

Unfortunately Nathan didn't win the PCA, but congrats to one of his fans and supporters, Serena Williams!

Nathan's next public appearance will be at the Vail Skating Spectacular, Dec 23. On ice tickets are sold out so only bleacher seating is still available.

Finally, this 3 years ago today Nathan set the current WR at the 2019 GPF.

If you weren't already tired of voting there's one more! This time or Utahn of the Year! Can't find anything about how many votes are allowed.
Nathan Chen — A strong and graceful skater who started out at Ballet West Academy, Chen represents Salt Lake City’s greatest aspirations in becoming an Olympic city. Born to Chinese immigrant parents, he became a home-built star who conquered the world to win gold this year in men’s figure skating in Beijing.

Nathan answers questions for SiriusXM. (New sponsor?)

One Jump At a Time will be translated into Japanese.

Nathan's Olympic victory named one of o the top sports moments of 2022.
The Winter Olympics in Beijing, still grappling with the effects of the pandemic, saw American figure skater Nathan Chen earn gold after his flameout at the Pyeongchang Games four years earlier.

We were hoping to attend the Vail show to see Nathan but didn’t want to buy advanced tickets because we were going to drive up for the day and drive back home after the show since we live west of Denver about 1.5 hours from Vail. Lodging prices are sky high in Vail right around Christmas and I need to be home for family on the 24th. Also no way do we want to be driving over Vail Pass at night if it snows. If the weather is clear on Friday I’m going to check the website and see if any tickets have been released that day. 🤞 If not, I’m happy for a sold out crowd.

Within the last three months I started to follow a Twitter sites that Nathan follows called Uber Facts.(It automatically came up as part of his follow list one day) It is the one of the wackiest and most interesting sites to follow. Some of today's offerings:

- In 2003, a farmer carrying a syringe loaded with bovine antibiotics was knocked down by one of his cows and accidentally injected himself. He went to the ER where they called Poison Control, who told him there were no known antidotes He died less than an hour later

- Snakes sleep with their eyes open

- A grocery store once closed down so Michael Jackson could fulfill his dream of going to a supermarket and shopping. He wanted to experience what it was like to "put things in a basket" They filled the store with his friends pretending to be strangers shopping, as well

Even though on ice and bleacher tickets are sold out, the event organizer and Broadmoor coach says not to worry.
"We are at 1,100 tickets and the day before the show we will add some more seats onto the ice and hopefully that will be anywhere from 20-30," says Eddie Shipstad. "Those tickets will go on sale about two o'clock on the 22 [Thursday]. They will be on ice seats the best you can buy.

I certainly hope that any up and coming skaters and all coaches take the time to listen/read Nathan's book. I hope they take away from it that training obsessively doesn't equal success. You need to let your body rest. Chapter 4 is a hard listen regarding his mindset and how not to approach the Olympics.

Thank you so much @Sylvia!

The tickets were all sold out so I wasn’t able to attend….though the horrible ultra cold weather might have been an issue even if I had been able to get last minute tix. :fragile:

It honestly felt like I was watching a horror movie, or a train crash in slow motion. Some of the best parts of the book as Nathan really dived deep into his personal experiences.

Sweet photo by a skating dad at Great Park Ice yesterday :): https://twitter.com/figuresk8ingdad/status/1608291875383029761
The king is in the house! @nathanwchen is the sweetest person ever! The girls told him we have his book at home and he waited for >5 mins for the book to get to the rink. He told the girls to work hard! He is a real champ & inspiration! His legacy will last for many generations!

^^^ For those who can't see his 2022 photos:
1. Perched on top of the Olympic Rings in Beijing (is that "No Climbing" on the blue sign on the ground?)
2. Sitting with his mom on a couch (backstage during their TODAY Show appearance?)
3. Standing with Raf and Brandon Siakel (his longtime trainer) rinkside at the Olympic practice rink
4. Seated with Jean-Luc and Brandon F. in the on ice seats at a Stars on Ice practice
5. In Japan with the SOI group (standing L to R: Rizzo, Aymoz, Bates, Chock, Grassl, Cha, Alysa Liu, Nathan; in front: Ilia, Jason, Mariah)
6. With Vera Wang at the U.S. Open tennis tournament
7. Holding up a really big piece of lobster claw meat!
8. Recording his audiobook - he's sitting in front of a screen showing his book's title page
9. Posing with his 4 older siblings outside their trailer during the Celebrity Family Feud taping
10. Snorkeling (in Hawaii?) with a big sea turtle below him resting on the ocean floor

Looks like Nathan attended a performance of Cirque du Soleil's "O" in Las Vegas last night (per his latest IG story).

LOL: https://twitter.com/deantak/status/1610699665443540992
'Olympic skater Nathan Chen came to Panasonic CES event [yesterday] to talk about climate change. He is going for the long hair look."

Also: https://twitter.com/esmithtech/status/1610700456078053376
So far the best press conference usage of celebrity goes to #Panasonic with Kal Penn and Nathan Chen talking about climate change initiatives #sustainability #ces2023
