If you look closely the choreography is designed so that the "lead" role can be easily switched out for someone else. In this case because Nathan headlines the US shows I suspect they will want to highlight him. (Plus they are paying him a lot of $$$)

Reading period (prep. for finals) is this week. Finals are scheduled from May 4-10 and then he can relax(?) before joining the SOI tour for rehearsals prior to the May 20th opening show in Anaheim.
