G&G won their first worlds in their first appearance. There was no GP series back then.

Mishkutenok Dmitriev won their first GP at their first appearance (Skate America 1988). I even remember their exhibition performances there. I don't know if there were other GPs back then.

The Grand Prix series began in 1995 (originally called the ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997).

Gordeeva & Grinkov did win 1985 Skate Canada International in fake London, which I believe was their senior international debut?

I believe that is correct. They won their first world championship in 1986. So the Skate Canada win must have been in 1985.

I must be in minority, but really adore this relatively new team.:) I remember watching Mishina skating with her former partner and won 2016 JGPF while B/K were 3rd, and immediately realized the great potential of both teams, the strong basis of their techniques, and the youthfulness and competitiveness while both being very young (teenagers).

While it's like 'losing' 1~2 years due to breakup with former partners, I'm happy to see Mishina back to elite competitions and doing so well with Galliamov. She's such a fierce and tough competitor, I wish them best of luck in the future.

Btw, congratulations for making GPF in your first senior season! It's such an accomplishment to be proud of. Still, a lot of work to do for improvement but great, great job today. :)

they were severely underscored in NHK especially in PCS
also the TES too low for what they skated in the FS

134 FS only not even a SB
they are better technicians than that Boikova / Kozlovskii

Their skating is heavy and generic. Hopefully they will improve. I think there is a lot of potential.

a medal in GPF in their GP debut
wow, they are indeed still slow but they are in lead against headcase and inconsistent peers B/K and P/K

who was last russians to medal in their senior GP debuts
Gordeeva / Grinkov ?

The Grand Prix didn't exist when Gordeeva/Grinkov started their senior career, and Pavliuchenko/Khodykin also medaled at both of their Grand Prix events last season when they made their senior debut.

but P/K didnt medal in GPF last season
I hope M/G get their PCS bump finally after this medal

Congratulations to Anastasia and Sasha! To make the GPF in your first year senior season is quite an accomplishment, to win a medal is a pleasant surprise. :)

The other day I was watching the Chinese TV coverage of NHK Trophy, where Tong Jian (2 times world Pair champions with Pang Qing) was the commentator there. Tong said some really nice words about them. I’m sure their talent will be recognized by more and more skating fans in the future. Just keep it up, and stay strong. :)
