Can someone explain to me why you'd name your sons Aleksandr and Aleksei? Are they substantially different names in Russian? Or is it more like naming one kid Michael and the other Mickey?

Zapata has some peppy music and a good 3z+3t, solid 3f too! That was entertaining - and good skating skills. Hopefully he can get a 3A and some quads & contend at the senior level.

Blackwell

Big 3a, no combo for Blackwell, stepped out of 3z, stepped out of 3f, think his basics look a little improved since JGP, expression is pretty vacant, now I’m wondering if Q is in jeopardy

Not a lot of flow out of his jumps, but he landed them until the 3f fall, all red on jumping passes, though, nice combo spin to end

Qs will start to be achieved in this warm-up group. The number to beat is Li’s 63.87. Immediately following Li, it’s awfully tight in the 61-62 point range with 4 skaters clumped together.

Choi

3a with good distance, 3f, nice speed across the ice, leg position in broken camel looked sloppy, nice 3z-3t, nice flexibility in spins

2a, 3f, 3z-3t fall on toe—both jumps were quite small with whipped rotation, got negative GOE on flying camel, don’t think this was enough to earn Q

3f with lots of footwork going into it, easy 2a, hope he will work on posture and rounded shoulders, 3z-3t. He’s got so many linking steps and turns in the program! :respec:

Well, Lindfors is likely to give Patrick his Q with a 2f and a messy landing on the combo.

2f, 3z-3t—toe not completed and put foot down immediately, big, sweeping expressive movement, just needs to get his tech sorted

Kurtsev

3a, 3z-2t, 3f flipped out, getting negative GOE on his spins, some polishing to do

Watching Kurtsev skate to the same music as Junwhan Cha - while 4CC is fresh in my mind - was rather interesting.

Zich

See-through shirt for juniors? , good 3a, 3z-3t, powerful skating, negative GOE on camel spin, only a 2f, nice command of his performance

So, we've go ads on the ISU feed (sigh). Oh well, at least I'm seeing skating. Good score for Zich. I thought he skated "big" as in he seemed confident and filled the whole ice area well.
