Let's Talk Movies #36 - 2020 - Yep it is a new decade

He gets shot with a poison arrow and Supergirl joins up with the girl who's seeking revenge for her families murders to get the guys who shot Krypto for the antidote to the poison because the guys who shot Krypto are the guys who killed Ruthye (the girl)'s family.

I've read the graphic novel the movie is based on (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow), there's definitely differences already because Lobo wasn't in the comic but that's not something I'm deeply concerned about in translating that story to film. I'm continuing to be cautiously optimistic about this. I don't get overly excited about superhero movies anymore just on principle but the trailer does at least look good.

Thanks. I was ☹️ when I saw Krypto get hit and apparently sick.

About Lobo - Jason Momoa is there to help get more people into seats. 😊 😉

Uh, oh……Dunesday may be Doomed!

I’ve been wondering about this and the availability of IMAX screens. If this turns out to be true, I’m a bit surprised that it’s Marvel that blinking and not Warner Bros. 🤔 🍿
WB has a strong relationship with IMAX via Christopher Nolan. Dune was actually shot on certified IMAX cameras, Doomsday was not.

It’s not surprising to me that WB booked up IMAX theaters for three weeks in support of Dune. Disney was just behind the ball or isn’t concerned with waiting a month to get IMAX ticket sale bump. I’m sure Doomsday will make more money, but Dune is by far the more logical film to lean into IMAX screenings.

So...........was Song Sung Blue any good? Worth watching or too contrived and too sweet?
I’m glad I watched it, though I’m glad I didn’t pay for it. It was a bit depressing. However, Kate Hudson does a great job, as does the girl who played her daughter. And if you like Neil Diamond music that’s a plus.

I liked it, as did most of the people in my film discussion group. My biggest impression was that unlike most of the Oscar nominated films that I saw, this one had a plot and was easy to follow. And yes, Hudson did a good job.

So happy to see movies doing so well! People still want to go to the movies despite the hard times! Super Mario made estimated $34m on its first day! :cheer2:

Dune: Part Three - Select IMAX 70MM tickets on sale now! You can find available tickets here. They aren’t available where I’m at! BOOOOO!!!! 😒

Nowhere near where I live either. I mean, I'd have to fly somewhere to see this in 70MM. Or spend more than a day traveling by car (one way). My budget simply doesn't stretch that far for a movie I can watch in a local theater (albeit not in IMAX). I'm sure the experience is amazing, but ... can't justify it.

All other tickets should be available at some point. For some reason, they only made these particular 70MM IMAX tickets this early.

I haven't seen anyone else post this but last week I hired a cinema with friends and we saw The Magic Faraway Tree. We all read the books when we were kids so had been looking forward to this. We fortunately have a cinema here that has one with 20 seats (they are couches).

Anyway we all loved it and thoroughly enjoyed it. They captured the essence of the books and it actually had some extremely funny moments. Great for kids and adults alike.
