I know! It’s criminal that he never got a Golden Globe or Emmy nomination for Andor. I believe Skarsgård won a Golden Globe and/or Emmy for the HBO miniseries Chernobyl.

The chatter on the various movie subreddits is that Sean Penn (OBAA) is the current frontrunner for Best Supporting Actor, with Skarsgård and Paul Mescal (Hamnet) running second and third. The fourth and fifth nomination slots are apparently wide open between Adam Sandler (Jay Kelly), Benicio del Toro (OBAA), Delroy Lindo (Sinners), Jeremy Strong (Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked: For Good).

But does Sean Penn really need a third Oscar……and right now?

Finally saw ‘One battle after another’. Well made and well acted movie. Not really my kind but it became interesting after the first 1/4. Nice cinematography and editing too. Expect many Oscar nominations. Sean Penn will have a good shot at supporting actor. Leo was very good but the best lead actor race has not yet started.

Well, i finally watch the new naked gun on the airplane coming home… everything that was funny in the movie was in the trailer, the trailer was an A+, and the movie itself was a D or a C I couldn’t believe it. The premise in the storyline was so juvenile boy, but not in a sophisticated, funny way, like the original naked gun. I mean the villain had a toy to make everybody go crazy? What a stupid story line.

It's also very, very familiar. The first Kingsman movie had an extremely similar premise.

Me, too. I haven’t watched the first one yet because I’m waiting for the second to come out. I’ve read the book and seen the musical. I’ll read the Wikipedia article (I need spoilers or I get very stressed out) and wait patiently.

Yep. I’m seeing it offered at 11am on November 20 in most theaters.

Also, Wicked is currently available for free streaming on Prime Video. I’ll probably do that in preparation for seeing Wicked: For Good on November 20.

The past Naked Gun movies were always about slapstick. It was low brow and over the top silly and that was what the audience loved about it. Those films were never "sophisticated".

To me, they were sophisticated, meaning that it wasnt your average fart jokes or stupid boy humor, those jokes were actually had to be thought about and written to really make you laugh and then you laugh at yourself for laughing at that. Does that make sense?

Just like airplane.

I may have just enough time to see two movies before I go on a vacation.

I am considering Sentimental Value and Eleanor.

Any other recommendations?

Some movies (like Sentimental Value) are not yet in theatres near me.

I want to see Nuremberg but it may not arrive in time for me.

I watched Bugonia in the theaters today. Being that it's in its opening wide release weekend, I'll put my review in spoiler.

Are you a fan of Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone, and/or Jesse Plemons? Do you like movies with a weird plot that just gets odder and odder? Then you'll want to see this film!

Spoiler: My Review of Bugonia

I give Bugonia a 7.8/10. This film is a remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet! Michelle Fuller (Emma Stone) is the CEO of Auxolith, a pharmaceutical company. She is kidnapped by Teddy (Jesse Plemons) and Don (Aidan Delbis) who are conspiracy theorists that are convinced that Michelle is an alien who wants to destroy the planet. Teddy is also a beekeeper and works at one of the Auxolith warehouses.

What's great/good:
1) Jesse Plemons and Emma Stone give some SUPERB acting performances.
2) Cinematography/Editing: The scenes are shot and put together INSANELY well.
3) The film does a very good job is showing how conspiracy theories work psychologically within and among people who believe them.
4) This is a weird film. You're either going to REALLY like it or.......just not.

What's MEH:
1) This is a weird film. You're either going to REALLY like it or.......just not.
2) I personally was not a fan of how the music was used in this film. It started to sound like a caricature to me.
3) I think the film needed at least one more scene that showed the background of what had happened to Teddy's mother (Alicia Silverstone).
4) The final fifteen minutes with the "final reveal" seemed a bit rushed.

One Battle is an interesting movie but why is it considered a Comedy? I didn’t find a single humorous scene in it. There is plenty of violence, stunts, and drama in it but I saw nothing funny.

It’s not like I am lacking in sense of humor. I have seen movies that made me laugh.

After the first 1/4 I did find OBAA interesting and the cinematography was terrific. So was the acting by the entire cast.

Just to confuse me even more, I read that they entered this movie in the Comedy/Mysical category for the Golden Globes. It was a move to avoid competition with another top movie that’s in the drama category. I may not even see that other movie. Chances are I may see just one movie before going on vacation.

Though campaigning a vampire movie as a comedy/musical on the merits of it being a musical is a bigger gamble. OBAA isn't unfunny, there's plenty of humour in it, my screening laughed a fair amount at the stuff with Leonardo Di Caprio and Benicio Del Toro's characters in particular, but I would have probably put it as a drama for the Golden Globes anyway.

Maybe the gamble is that OBAA will knock out Marty Supreme just have to compete with Hamnet. But what if Marty Supreme gets rave reviews and $$$$ on Christmas Day?

But here’s the biggest problem for OBAA: It’s really RARE for a film that lost movie at the box office to win Best Picture. And OBAA is set to lose A LOT of money.

This is my problem.

I can recognize a movie as good, and even enjoy it though it may not be my favorite kind of movie. However, I wouldn’t call a movie comedy just because it had a few laughs.I don’t remember laughing in that movie. I was absorbed in it due to the seriousness.

A comedy needs a lot of laugh throughout. JMO.

I had a similar issue with Fargo, which was highly acclaimed. It was a good but violent movie. It was labeled ‘Dark comedy’, like OBAA. What I see as cruelty is called comedy. When I feel horrified people laugh. I don’t think I laughed even once in Fargo.

I prefer laughter that is pure, not mixed with violence, blood, killing, sex (Anore), etc. I will take sex over violence, blood,gore anyway.

Oddly I am not even a fan of comedy. I like drama, seriousness, a message.

I think OBAA has a good story,though at times a bit confusing.I may see it again to fill in the gaps.

A watched A House of Dynamite on Netflix today. My score is 7/10. I am a big fan of Kathryn Bigelow and wanted to like this film more than I did. The film is shot and acted very well. Idris Elba shows his range by his portrayal of the President of the United States - especially since we also saw him this year as the Prime Minister of the UK in Prime Video’s Heads of State.

But we don’t get the President’s decision, which was disappointing given the plot (an eminent nuclear attack on the U.S.). And the SecDef ended up committing suicide……like that?

Also, the film presents the same story three times from different points of view. If you don’t like that kind of presentation, you‘ll probably want to skip this film.
