Let's Talk Movies #36 - 2020 - Yep it is a new decade

Not sure if this one has been posted yet, but this is my must see this fall! Hope it goes to 11!

Just watched The Naked Gun. Being that it’s still in it’s opening weekend, I’ll put my review in spoiler.

Do you miss watching great comedies in theaters? Have you been loving Pamela Anderson’s career resurgence? Are you in the mood for belly laughs? Then run to the theaters and see this film! 😂

I give this film a 9.2/10. It’s basically nonstop humor for 85 minutes. Lt. Frank Drebin, Jr. (Liam Neeson) of The Police Squad investigates an apparent collision death of Davenport. He realizes that the death is related to a doomsday event planned by Richard Cane (Danny Huston) using a P.L.O.T. device. During the investigation, he starts a romance with Davenport’s sister (Pamela Anderson).

What’s great/good:
1) Liam Neeson was perfect for this role.
2) Pamela Anderson’s singing performance on stage at the jazz club was 🤣.
3) I would say that about 75% of the jokes and “side humor” hit the note. The ones that didn’t land didn’t cause the film to crash and burn.

What’s MEH:
1) The trailer gives away the joke about O.J. Simpson. There’s another joke about Bill Cosby that some might find too 😬.
2) I’m not convinced that the stuff with the snowman needed to be in Drebin and Davenport’s “romantic weekend”. It seemed a bit “extra”.
3) During Drebin and Davenport’s “romantic weekend”, I was expecting a 2025 version of the “body condoms”. It didn’t happen. SIGH. 😆
Loved this movie! ..since the beginning of July I have seen it know what you did last summer, jurassic world, fantastic 4, superman, together, the naked gun, the bad guys 2 and tonight I am seeing weapons. I took a few weeks off from going to movies but back at it.

Weapons is really good. Loved it. One of the best horror movies of the year and it has been a good year for horror movies

Tom Holland of Spiderman fame? He's short and still looks like a teenager. There's no way that rumor is anywhere remotely true.
Completely aside from that, I honestly can't see him wanting to get attached to another giant franchise. I think his next big post Spider-Man project is supposed to be a Fred Astaire biopic that I have extremely mixed feelings about (not because of him, because Fred Astaire always said he didn't want a movie made about his life and I, personally, am tired of all the biopics).

He's looking more adult these days. If anything, he's aging out of playing HS-aged Spider-man.

Not that I believe this rumor either but for other reasons.
