I remember reading posts here about the recent version of Dune, I think most people really enoyed it. I did as well, but was surprised at how slight the story was. Can’t believe that with such a threadbare plot that the movie lasted two and a half hours. I have a vague memory of Frank Herbert’s books being quite thick, much like most of Stephen King’s novels. So I was expecting more depth to the movie. Luckily the effects, cinematography and cast made this watchable. I’m surprised by how enamored the world is with Timothee Chalamet. Just like the movie, I found his performance (and physical presence) to be equally slight. Zendaya only has a few lines in this movie, but I longer for more of her and much less of Chalamet. It might have been cool to swap the gender of Chalamet’s character and have Zendaya in the lead role. And Chalamat could by the wispy mysterious stranger who isn’t required to do much but look pretty. I think he could handle that much. Probably.
