I am finally going to buy tickets but it appears that if you're from the US or Canada (that's me), they will mail the tickets out to you. For Canadians, only standard mail is available. I always do Will Call. Is that option for any of you? Is there a number to call to buy tickets (I didn't see one on their website)?

I emailed them, hopefully, I get a response.

Manhn, I did standard mail for tickets and had them in my hands about three days later. They were REALLY fast.

I'm looking at AirBnb right now as I hadn't booked at the Orleans, forgetting about the date expiration like an idiot, so if I book anything with enough room I'll let you know. Everything seems to have two bedrooms that I'm looking at!

Self parking is free at the Orleans, and you should be able to buy tickets at the arena. I don't think it's anywhere near to sold out.

Yes, the parking is free and I'm sure you can buy tickets at the arena. Keep in mind that there's a casino at the same location; if you're parking in the garage, you'll be closest to the entrance to the arena on the lowest level. There are a number of helpful employees posted in the parking lot, at the entrance to the parking garage and inside the hotel/casino/arena. If you go in at ground level, the arena is up one flight of (kind of steep) stairs or escalators, or an elevator, then you pass through a quick security check and there are again a number of friendly, helpful employees stationed around if you need instructions to find your gate, restrooms, etc. I was at the practice session yesterday and not all the concession stands were open, but the ones that were open offered only the usual overpriced arena type fast food options, and only soft drinks and bottled water (maybe beer at one booth? not sure) - no coffee/tea to be had! I asked one of the employees about it and he told me that we can bring our own during the competition; he specified coffee, so I assume you can bring in only a container of your hot beverage, not food or soft drinks.

I was told you can bring in water too. I just brought an empty water bottle and filled up at the water fountain.

There is one kiosk selling liquor including beer. Most of the other stands are some sort of dessert such as cookies, donuts and cotton candy. Then the two concession stands selling the usual.

I didn’t notice anything else. The dessert stands weren’t open but the liquor stand was open. I don’t think they know their audience on that one.

Everyone working in the arena I have met is very nice. Arena is. Great size for SA.

The Elvis sweepers are too fun!!!!!


Only downside is the cluster that is the souvenir stand. People are standing in line for an hour just to buy a program!!!!!!!!


Hopefully they will come back here. I’d return.

I felt that FINALLY the organizers realized that attendance is terrible at Skate America. This venue I thought was excellent. From past experience it was about average attendance this year, in fact possibly smaller than the last one I was at. However, because the venue was so small, it gave the impression of a well-attended event. Much better than being in some enormous pro-ball stadium...

It's like some of the times Four Continents was held at a 15,000 seat arena, and you knew attendance was poor when the cameras always did a really tight audience reaction shot.

I loved having SA in Las Vegas. So convenient. I stayed at the Orleans, room was fine, actually good size, reasonable price with ISU discount. Could just walk to arena without going outside. But that was an option too.

The arena was just right. It wasn’t sold out but half full. I bet the skaters liked just walking over to arena instead of shuttle bus. Plenty of restaurants and gift shop that was almost like a mini 7-11. The casino wants you to stay there and not wander over to the strip!

The skating itself was typical for the .first GP. Many skaters will be tweeting their programs and it’s definitely needed!

Bradie and Nathan only had minor mistakes. Well done. I enjoyed Hub/Don’s skates. It’s their first competition so may not recognize the program after SC. Too bad isn't enough time to tweek before next weekend. Zach needs to get over his bronchitis, that’s more important.

The skaters music was interesting to say the least. I was using Shazam to figure out what was playing. How the heck do these choreographers find some of this stuff.

Wonderful to see ex skaters become coaches. Stephane Lambiel, Galit Chait, Misha Gee was at the boards for about half the skaters it seemed. Brian Orser, Tracey Wilson, Patrice Lauzon and Roman H coached HALF (5) of the ice teams, Hombo Zhou there too, caught him smoking and playing the slots! I’m sure I’ve missed some.

Loved SA in Las Vegas. Make it permanent!

I agree. Every year from now on!!! I had a great week/end. The strip is five minutes Uber away? Perfect. I had a lot of fun this weekend, just meeting up with old skating fan friends. And I'm now approaching 50, how fun to see old friends!!! This weekend was such a delight. I'm glad that the 'solid' skate fan friends I knew were there and made this well worth going to! I saw a bunch from the old FSW and even TSLs own Dave Lease! lol I hope y'all had as much fun as I had. I could do this easily every year.

We've been to every Skate America since 2003 except for that Thanksgiving year. Orleans Arena offered a suitable size and comfortable temperature, plus friendly and helpful staff. We stayed off the Strip and rented a car, so we appreciated having plenty of free and convenient parking. Reasonable number of concession stands with cheerful staff.

I liked the efforts to add a little Vegas touch by having the Cirque entertainers join Rusty during zamboni breaks as well as the card tricks during the gala. Actually I thought this gala was more enjoyable than those of some previous years.

Las Vegas is easy to reach from the East coast by air, so I'd be happy to return here again.
