So, okay ... I fully intend to watch some of the dancers. I really love the RDs this year. But, I have to go run some errands right now. See you asap in the RD thread.

Here's what Beverley Smith (BevSmithWrites on X) posted about 3 of men I especially enjoyed watching today, in addition to William Chan:

Loved the men in the final group in JR SP at #SCNats25. David Howes was a wow, landing his 3Lutz on such a soft knee that the 3toe that followed was easy. Quality skater. Loved all the positions in his spin. Loved that he is from Manitoba. Trains in BC with Tean Murphy. First!

Loved Edward Nicholas Vasii, 2nd in Jr Men's SP at #SCNats24. Was Jr. champ two years ago, injured last year. Julie Marcotte choreography, but he carried it off beautifully. With 65.69, he is about 5 pts behind the leader at 70.41. Howes was the only one to crack 70.

David Shteyngart is only 9th after Jr men's SP at #SCNats25 but I like him a lot, too. Love his detail and body line. He fell twice, on his Lutz combo and his 3flip. Outch. But there's always the FP tomorrow. He's 19yo.

Tehryn Lee looks like he has good basic skating skills and control of his blades, but so many of those jumps just weren't working for him. :(

Some hard splats from Neo :( this is why I could never be a skater. Doesn't that hurt?

And Neo Tran is another skater with good skills and interesting choreo, but such wild jumps.

To skate to "Heart upon my Sleeve" you need at minimum either a facial expression or a giant sparkly applique heart on your literal sleeve, and Kole Sauve has neither.

Made it back from the grocery store in time for most of the last 2 flights. Wishing everyone good luck.

I'm thinking, based on your comments, that David Shteyngart is a better skater than his current position after the sp would indicate. I'm excited about Louie Fukuda-Wu. I really enjoyed his program yesterday. Watching skating ... what a great way to spend a COLD January afternoon.

Shteyngart trying lots of hard stuff and landing quite a bit of it in some sort of manner. When he can get those jump landings cleaner, he's going to be someone to contend with for sure. Liked his interpretation of the music, for the most part. Good for him for going for the tough stuff though. That's exactly what he should be doing at this stage of his skating career.

I loathe this music but Fukuda-Wu is doing pretty well! Some messy landings and I don't think this will beat David S but good!

I know, it’s a warhorse, I tend to give juniors a pass on the music selections, because almost everything is a warhorse. But having said that we’ve listened to this music plenty. Lol.

There's just something about Fukuda-Wu's skating that really appeals to me. Going to be fun watching him develop in the future. Best costume on the men I've seen so far.
