Julian just made the free skate for the third consecutive time in his 3 World Championship appearances so far and competed in his first Olympic Games (and he was Malaysia's opening ceremony flag bearer), so I thought I would start a fan/cheer thread for him. :)

He has a vlog (he calls it a "vee-log") that he started last summer and has uploaded 3 videos to date: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjxLNNorawyNRNzS2wvjuGg/videos

He was featured in the first episode of the Olympic Channel's "Far From Home" video series before the start of the PyeongChang Olympics (9 minutes): https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/p...mpic-figure-skater-trains-in-a-shopping-mall/

Oh, Julian's season is not yet over, he still has his Nationals coming!

From ISU post-FS quick quotes (http://cloud.isu.org/index.php/s/EWtBSOR6CIRUDya#pdfviewer)
I really tried to involve the crowd and wake everyone up as it’s 10am! They have been amazing, even on the warm up the crowd has been so cheerful and supportive. This season like every season has had its ups and downs but I’ve been lucky to achieve a lot of my goals. I qualified for the Olympics which was a huge thing for me. Now I go back to training, Malaysian Nationals are held at the end of the season so I don’t get a break yet! Then we will look at a new free program because of the time changes and different rules for next season. Then it’s back to training and studying. I study business management in Canada, it’s not too heavy so it’s easy to balance out with training. It’s not like being a doctor, I couldn’t be like Valtter! (Virtanen (FIN)).

^^^ I don't believe Julian had to compete at Malaysian Nationals this year (I haven't come across any results posted for this season). Miki Ando was invited to visit Kuala Lumpur back in April "in conjunction with the 60th Years of MAS-JPN celebration": https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2320482141311356&id=427350377291218

ICYMI: Julian's career best SP he skated at his very first GP event! :cheer2:
https://youtu.be/iqH2E0Fh-jU

Not only is he in 3rd after the short, he also got the highest TES of all the men (46.09)! Who would've thought!

Julian's answers from the Skate America SP press conference, courtesy by rockerskating:
First time I'm doing this so I'm not really sure. <laughter> Having the skate of my life at my first Grand Prix is pretty wonderful.

The sport is growing in Malaysia, we have more ice rinks. We started w 1 ice rink in our whole country, and now we have five. I'm jsut very happy to see ... skaters from SE Asia. The road for us is very blurry, being able to guide them through it would be very great.

So happy for him to have made a GP press conference. This was probably too much of a surprise for everyone including him that it somewhat threw him off and he couldn't hold onto a podium finish - he had had better free skate performances even when he was more of an underdog, but all in all a great GP debut!

Second place in the SP (behind Chen) is awesome for Julian. He struggled in the LP but he seems to be progressing all the time.
