It's great to see that she's continuing to accomplish great things. Even on the basis of her existing achievements, particularly her courageous example at the Vancouver Olympics, I'd love to see Joannie inducted into the Order of Canada.
Wonderful! As a teacher, I love to see skaters who were successful at a young age and had to discontinue their schooling go back to post-secondary education when they retire from competition.
A great role model. Joannie is continuing to lead by example, showing that there is a productive, fulfilling life and great achievement to be had after competitive figure skating. Good for her!
There was a lovely interview with her on ice network's podcast over the summer where she describes how a lot of the discipline and determination that became such an essential element of who she was as a champion athlete, she has brought to bear as she focuses on her medical studies.
