JGP #6 - Gdansk, POL - Oct. 1-4, 2025 - Women SP & FS

Dibbern

waltzy swooping movement, 2a, 3z-3t (would look at that edge), 3r, lovely security in her jumps, good lift and plenty of time to complete the rotation and end with a strong exiting edge, 3z-2a-2t, layback spin kinda ground to a halt, don't think she should have ended with that element. Great skate!
And her bio lists Denise Beillmann as a former coach

Yujae - well, she's got one clean 3a and that's probably going to be enough to hold off Sophie Joline from gold unless she falls apart in the second half.

Kim, Yujae

3a easy, 3z-3t kinda slow to take off for the second jump but handled, 3r. Like Von Felton not a lot happening here in the first minute choreographically. LOTR, though, so awesome. Nice change of edge while in donut position in flying camel spin, good speed through the end of the program. Unless callers take a pickaxe to her jumps, I think she's staying ahead of Von Felten.

it is funny - the last three girls had a Bielman as her last element and all three of them kind of fell out of it a bit and messed it up.

Kanazawa

3z-3t, 2a, 3s she gets good height on her opening jumps, I don't think she's doing much to interpret this music, free leg was shaky on 3f landing but kept it off the ice, 3f-2a that also looked like a struggle, quality of the elements deteriorated throughout the program. last spin was okay, though.

Well, I don't think there's any way that Kanazawa will beat either Yujae or Sophie Joline. I'm not even sure she's done enough to beat Elisabeth - and if that's the case then that helps Sophie Joline's chances of making it to the JGPF.

Kanazawa just stays ahead of Dibbern and that pretty much guarantees that Sophie Joline can only hope for 1st alternate for the JGPF, if my math is correct.

Lengyelova

3f-2t oooh, 3r, 3s She is just making these jumps--not sure if she'll have the gas in the tank to keep it up the whole program through, 2z, 3z-2a-2a nice, nice flow through the steps, just didn't skate as free as she did in the SP

Well, now, this is going to get REALLY interesting. Lengyelova skated very well and I'd have her ahead of Kanazawa, but I fear she's going to get the small fed PCS drop like Dibbern.

The USFS really screwed up with Sophie Joline's JGP assignments. If they'd sent her to Varese or Baku she would have won with the score she earned in Ankara - and the score today would have been icing on the cake.

Lengyelova has the Russian coach Sergei Rozanov whose skaters have done pretty well on the JGP. I wouldn't worry about that; he's got politiking power.

And the Jr Women FS marathon is now complete.

Does this mean Lengyelova may get JGPF?
No, she finished too low in her first event. She'll only have 16 points overall.

ETA: Yujae Kim just clinched the Final, however. Kanazawa will be in bubble territory with 24 points, but she's got the first tiebreaker on her side if it comes to that.

Does this mean Lengyelova may get JGPF?
Not a bat's chance in hell. She only earned 3 points at her first JGP, so she now has 16 points and won't get within sniffing distance of the alternates.

Dang Sophie's SP kept her from at least a Silver medal good that she held it together for the FS though. I still wish she would lower the jump content a bit and work on other parts of her skating and try to skate cleaner programs.

Von Felten won't make it with this result either. Kim and Kanazawa are both ahead of her now, leaving her in 6th with Shimada still to come next week. My guess would be Sophie ends up as 3rd alternate.

Interesting technique on the Salchow setting up like a loop jump, and then switching feet at the last moment.

Strong start to the program, but then the nerves seemed to get to her, but she fought through the end of the jumps.
