JGP #4 - Ankara TUR - Women's SP & FS

I'm here for the first two groups, then plan on getting a few hours of sleep before Nebelhorn and the Jr Pairs here start, lol.

Yay, Ankara! No crazy moving graphics in the Kiss & Cry! This oneโ€™s easy on the eye.

Mark introduces Weronika Ferlin and tells us "she's skating to Tosca, a popular choice by Edvin Marton" - come on, Mark, just say it! She's skating to a warhorse!!!!!!

I really cannot get into the Kim twins from Korea. Absolute vanilla.

Two Korean delights in a row! Double blingโ€ฆincluding hair accessories of power!

Hwang of KOR - periwinkle blue dress with the requisite crystals/stoning on the bodice; spaghetti straps and armbands around the biceps covered in the crystals; 1.5" wide bare midriff covered in crystals that makes it look more like a waistband/belt. I don't know this music - oh, it's the "Alexander" soundtrack - she's skating very well but she's just kind of half-finishing all the choreo in the step sequence and it was good but this music edit was very quiet and I'm not sure it works for a junior skating program. Kind of just there, like her.

Brandenburg - 2nd JGP of the season for her! Hoping to do better in her SP today. And down she goes on the 3f - and I'm pretty sure the jumps in her 3z+3t are going to be reviewed. This is better than Riga though where she fell on her combo and only did a 1f, so there's that.

Brandenburg: 3Z-3T, 2A, 3F fall. Violin fantasy. Looks a little nervous, but it's a nice programme.

Nicole Schott is with her - confirmed by Mark, I thought I might just be half asleep!

Oh, boy... Just looked at Inga Gurgenidze's music for the SP in anticipation of the next group...

Tango Time by Atomic Overture

This could be... interesting.

Gurgenidze. 3f 2a 3z-3t. Great spin positions. She's trying to move out of her glum-scary niche, doing a tango, and while it's not a natural style for her yet, it's good she's trying new things - even smiling a little!

Inga - black and red dress - straps crossing diagonally on her back, sleeves are mostly black, skirt is mostly red, bodice mostly red but ombres to black through the midsection. Flying camel spin had some travel through the first position but settled down when she hit the Biellmann. Very stonefaced and surprisingly low-intensity energy through the step sequence. TES appears to be just above Yuseong.

ETA - TES wound up falling a bit and the judges hammered her on PCS. I'm with Ted & Mark in sort of disagreeing with that score.

Gurgenidze of Georgia very capable! Reminds me of Mia Kalin short in-between steps but elements good.

Nemirovsky. 3Z-1T, 2A, 3F fall. Skating slow, muted and nervous. Aww, poor Emilia. Gorgeous dress, at least.

Emilia Nemirovsky - black dress with some red floral appliques over the shoulders and back, grey underskirt, front also has some blue/silver crystals.

And she only does a 3z+1t. Sigh. Clean 2a, then falls on the 3f. Even bigger sigh. All our potential JGP contenders decided to move up to seniors and are medalling at Challengers instead this season, lol.

AWWW - Olivia & Dylan shown in the audience still waving the flag and cheering her on.

Nemirovsky of USA. Black Swan with blue & red highlights. Missed combo and fall on 3 flip. Not her best day. Slowish.

Nakai smooth and clean. Cherbourg seems to be a main tune of the season.

Nakai. 2A, 3Z-3T, 3F. All clean, perfectly nice. I just am not a fan of Umbrellas of Cherbourg, and there's nothing interesting to me here, sorry Ami.
I don't dislike the music but, as noted by @Frau Muller - it's being used a LOT this season and there are only so many Umbrellas programs I can take this early on, lol.

Shlaga of Kyrgyzstan - I can't even describe this music - it's just noise and not good noise - and her costume looks like a WTF-goth vampire design idea rejected by both Olga Mikutina & Inga Gurgenidze.

Classic OAS weirdness from Shlaga. Scary-hands choreo with stoneface expression, bizarre costume with glittery bones and some sort of... crustacean on her back? You do you, girl, but we need more insane performance from you to be truly memorable.

Kono. 3T-3T, 3F wobbly maybe ur. Oh no, fell on her step sequence! 2A. Very generic Scheherazade with all the usual arm movements. Clearly very just-out-of-novice.

Riria Kono - new Japanese girl I've never seen. Scheherazade in a strapless violet dress with a bare midriff and mostly gold stoning/jewels & matching headband. Jumps aren't super-impressive. I have a feeling she will be lucky to place ahead of Gurgenidze. Oh, nevermind, she just fell on her step sequence. If this places ahead of either Gurgenidze or Brandenburg, I may riot. Or, just go to sleep for a couple hours before Nebelhorn starts.

Ah, many errors for Riria Kono of Japan, skating to an odd Mantovani-type arrangement of Scheherazade.

Tsai. 3T-3T, 3F, 2A. Take On Me, as arranged for a Disney movie. :yikes: Clean programme, but I can't see this making waves.
