JGP #3 - Bangkok THA - Women's SP & FS

Shin

Jumps looking easy and some nice transitional content into and out of them, pretty Charlotte in choreo sequence, falls on 3t in 3z-3t combo and down again on 3z. If she’s going to have a growing pains year, better this season than next. But still :wuzrobbed

Tkachman

Telegraphing her jumps and having some struggles on them, nice choreo sequence, used a jump rather than a spin as last element, gesturing gimmee with hands at end; not sure I understood the theme

Karhumen

Nice, swooping movement to open, tidy solo triples, landed 3z-3t, needs a bit more flexibility for Swan Lake, but her carriage and the way she finished the moves were on point. Well-rounded skate.

ETA: Ted said four jumps got the q, which affected her technical score.

Okada

Moving with a lot of speed, 3f-3t, fall on 3r, edge jumps are unraveling, I have Dick Button concerns with her layback, nice basics

Takagi looked more nervous and tentative today, I thought, but hung in there and delivered a lovely skate nonetheless. Looks ready to collapse with relief at the end. :)

Okada will medal, now Takagi’s turn

3z-2t to open, followed by 2a-3t, serious piece, dramatic choreography into 3r, she’s putting more interpretation in the program than the other girls. Excellent performance!

So, will Wang prevent Korea from winning a 3rd consecutive bronze medal and Japan from winning a 3rd consecutive gold medal?

Wang isn't as interesting to watch as Takagi for me, but that was a very impressive skate. I think she's got the gold.

Wang

Opening with two 3-2s, gotta assume one of those was meant to be a 3-3. Hitting her elements nicely, could use more speed and facial expression. Nice 3z-2a-2a. Clean skate!

Happy surprise win from Wang! 🇨🇳

Loved Takagi’s Chopin FS. 🇯🇵

Sorry about Jia Shin’s 4th. She’s a bit taller this year.

Ah, Logan…in Jr USA Women’s usual 6th/7th/8th Spot. :wall:
