@momnatur, it seems Dreams on Ice will be broadcasted by a cable TV (paid channel). Sounds Japanese figure skating fans are unlikely to live-stream a TV program by a paid channel due to copy rights thing. I wonder if someone on Chinese site or somewhere else might do. I'm looking forward to seeing new competitive programs to be revealed from team Japan members as well as Nathan tomorrow.

BTW, I heard Zagitova will reveal her new SP at THE ICE.

Re-posting from Shoma Uno's fan thread:
Shoma announced he'll make a debut of his new SP on the first day of Nagano Oly's memorial show.

Shoma Uno SP "Stairway to Heaven" performed by Rodrigo y Gabriela

https://twitter.com/sywtwfs/status/1005065998062346240
I found his Nagano exhibition performance of his "Stairway to Heaven" SP uploaded here (performed only on June 8, the first day?): https://vimeo.com/278909387
Do we know who choreographed this? ETA that someone replied to me on Twitter as follows:
"the audio is out of sync in the step seq. here at 4:00 it's in sync but audio is lowered in the middle for copyright https://youtu.be/9N7nQ3679F8 i guess we can't have it all"

^^^ Thank you. Can you provide a source link to JSF's published assignments on their website? I just checked and can't find them.

In ladies it seems they are giving everyone at least 3 competitions which also confirms Kihira is most likely the one selected for the NHK host pick as she's the only one from the assignments still with only 2 competitions.

Rika Hongo also only has two events according to that list. 1 GP and 1 CS just like Kihira. I definitely think Rika K will get the TBD spot though.

Is there a reason why Muramoto & Reed don't have a challenger assignment?
Yeah, I found that a bit weird.

No real info there. But they have been touring, and most of the dance teams that have been touring aren't even signed up for the GP. It could be a matter of just wanting more time to prepare programs. (All of the Challenger events on the list with Japanese athletes above are pre-GP season Challengers).

You are correct. Reading more carefully Rika H. has only 2 while Yamashita has 4!! They should have just given 3 to everybody but oh well.

Also, why no Takahashi?. Is he planning to pull a Sasha and begin his comeback at Nationals? Not a recommendable approach IMO.

It sounds to me like Daisuke Takahashi is planning to take his time in preparing to return to competition and he may be focusing on competing in Japan rather than internationally.

This is the source.

Uploading to the official page of JSF is not yet.
Thank you.

Originally Yamashita had two GPS spots on her own, Hongo had one, and Kihira had none on her own. Last season Yamashita won bronze at Jr Worlds and places 24th on Season's Best. Hongo places 17th on World Standings. While, Kihira places 27th on SB and 44th on WS, which didn't help her to get any spot for GPS. So if you are talking about the spot for GSP &CS in total, Yamashita and Kihira were given two while Hongo was given one. Anyways one of Hongo/Kihira will be given another spot which is NHK's host spot. If the fed gives NHK to Hongo, all of three are given two for each. If not, it shows the fed treat Kihira differently from Hongo. Then you can say "oh well". :shuffle:

Yamashita, Asian Open, Lombardia, GPS Skate Canada & GPS Russia
Hongo, Finlandia, GPS Finland
Kihira, Ondrej Nepela Trophy, GPS France

I meant overall : GP + challengers. All the top ladies have 3 except for Yamashita who now has 4 and Hongo only 2. Kihira will get the NHK spot .

Takahashi is no Sasha Cohen and has been training very hard for months. He is not joking!

Parhaps you should ask that question to JSF who as of today still has to aknowledge and adress Takahashi's comeback.

I wonder if it's because her physical condition doesn't allow her to practice a new FS or whatever. :(

This article says Mai's physical condition got worse with the medicine she used, so she changed medicines to a new one four months ago. The new one caused bad side effects, ie now her cheeks are badly reddish due to allergic reactions etc.

This is a photo from yesterday's National Camp. See her cheeks.

Last winter when the temperature went down, she said she had physical difficulties with the coldness. Wish things go better for her this season.

A glimpse of Marin's Seven Nation Army.
https://twitter.com/marin_channel/status/1021770776242880514

Seems she left the Japanese show-biz management company and signed on a contract with IMG.
https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2018/07/25/0011478768.shtml

ETA:
I checked the website of the Japanese show-biz management company named Oscar. It still has Marin's name on it. So, Marin now has two management companies. For what? Dunno One for inside of Japan and another for outside of Japan? I wish she has left Oscar since it's a known company for OTT hyping their singers, actresses, athletes etc. And it often ends up with increasing anti-fans.
